The great jazz festival of the Marche region, between the Malatestiana Fortress and the Adriatic Sea
Fano Jazz by the Sea is the music festival that transforms Fano, a coastal city in the province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche region, into one of Italy's jazz capitals every summer. Born in the early nineties, the festival is organized by Fano Jazz Network under the artistic direction of Adriano Pedini and has grown to become a reference point for enthusiasts from all over the country, capable of bringing top international names to the Adriatic coast.
The beating heart of the event is the Main Stage, set up in the monumental setting of the Rocca Malatestiana (Malatestiana Fortress), a fifteenth-century fortress that serves as a stage for concerts by major stars. But the festival thrives on a widespread format: in addition to the Fortress, music reaches the historic center, courtyards, squares, and the seafront, for a total of six locations that involve the entire city. There are several themed stagesโfrom the Jazz Village to spaces dedicated to young talents and childrenโthat complement the main program.
With dozens of concerts, hundreds of musicians, and numerous national exclusives at each edition, Fano Jazz by the Sea is not just a sequence of concerts, but a cultural project that intertwines music with the landscape and the communities of the territory. In this regard, the collateral project Terre Sonore was born, which brings music to the villages and towns of the province even after the city festival closes, extending the season until the end of August.
Between the charm of a fortress overlooking the Adriatic, the energy of the big evening concerts, and the lively atmosphere of a seaside city in high summer, Fano Jazz by the Sea is one of the symbolic events of the Marche cultural summer. An opportunity to listen to great live music and discover Fano and its hinterland, from the coastal beaches to the Apennine landscapes.
The XXXIV edition of Fano Jazz by the Sea returns to Fano from July 18 to July 25, 2026, with the usual appendix in the surrounding area on August 1. Under the artistic direction of Adriano Pedini, the festival offers nine days packed with concerts, shows, and meetings, with approximately 40 events and 150 musicians from around the world spread across six locations in the city and the region.
The Main Stage at the Malatestiana Fortress is the core of the program, featuring a series of high-profile evening concerts. Alongside the main stage, the festival unfolds on themed stages, in courtyards, and on the seafront. The Terre Sonore project also continues, in its sixth edition, bringing music to the villages of the province with events running until the end of August.
The program also includes numerous side events on the themed stages and in the historic center's courtyards, as well as the widespread Terre Sonore events in the province's towns until the end of August.
