A weekend to rediscover the hidden treasures of the village, from churches to the air-raid shelter
Twice a year, the FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano invites Italians to rediscover the heritage of their territory. The FAI Spring Days are among the most beloved events, and in Ponte San Pietro, in the Isola Bergamasca, they open the doors of some usually closed or little-visited places in the village, in the province of Bergamo.
The route includes four main sites. The Church of San Marco, on via San Clemente, houses evocative frescoes. The Church of San Paolo, in piazza Santi Pietro e Paolo, offers the chance to climb the bell tower for a bird's-eye view of the town. The air-raid shelter, in piazza della Libertà, takes visitors back to the Second World War years, while the ArTchivio Smaltoteca Museum tells the story of local production and art.
The guided tour "Discovering Ponte San Pietro" serves as a common thread, connecting the different sites and allowing visitors to understand the village's historical and artistic layers. The visits are accompanied by FAI volunteers and Apprentice Ciceroes, often local students, who passionately share the unique features of each place.
The FAI Days are a precious opportunity to experience heritage in a different way: not behind a display case, but by physically entering normally inaccessible spaces. In Ponte San Pietro, the initiative highlights a village in the Bergamo area rich in memories, from frescoed churches to 20th-century testimonies, in a spring weekend dedicated to culture and discovery.
The 2026 edition of the FAI Spring Days in Ponte San Pietro takes place on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22. The program includes the opening of four sites in the historic center, with guided tours by FAI volunteers, and an itinerary dedicated to discovering the village.
