The pop culture fair at the Fiera del Mediterraneo in Palermo
Expo Comics & Games is the event that turns Palermo into the Italian capital of nerd culture every spring. The festival takes place in the spacious Fiera del Mediterraneo on Via Anwar Sadat, bringing together comics, video games, animation, board games, cosplay, and pop culture under one roof. Established in 2022, the fair has grown with every edition to become a landmark for enthusiasts across Sicily and beyond, attracting thousands of visitors to the Sicilian capital.
The heart of the event is its variety: the pavilions of the Fiera del Mediterraneo host non-stop gaming areas with stations and tournaments, spaces dedicated to board games and role-playing games, a large comics area filled with comic artists and illustrators, as well as publisher booths, specialty shops, and local artisans. There is no shortage of exclusive previews and new releases presented right here in Palermo, making the fair a prime showcase for those looking to discover the latest trends.
The cosplay community is a major star, with contests, parades, and performances bringing the fair's corridors to life. The stage features voice actors, comic artists, and guests from the animation world, including panels, live meet-ups, and autograph sessions. Among the most beloved moments are the evening concerts dedicated to the theme songs of cartoons that have defined entire generations, turning the fair into one big collective celebration.
Designed for all ages, Expo Comics & Games blends entertainment, gaming, and creativity. With workshops led by professionals, hands-on labs, prize-winning tournaments, and themed areas, the festival offers an engaging experience for both hardcore nerds and families looking for a unique day out. The event, organized by Mediexpo, confirms Palermo as one of the most vibrant stops on the Italian pop culture calendar, in a Sicily that is increasingly embracing this world.
From April 23 to 26, 2026, the Fiera del Mediterraneo in Palermo hosted the fifth edition of Expo Comics & Games, with daily opening hours from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The event brought together gaming areas, tournaments, spaces for board games and RPGs, a large comics area with authors and illustrators, cosplay contests, and evening shows.
Among the guests of this edition were voice actors Davide Garbolino and Emanuela Pacotto, numerous Sicilian comic artists, and performers from the cosplay scene. The highlight was the concert by Giorgio Vanni, the voice behind the most beloved cartoon theme songs, scheduled for the evening of Friday, April 24.
