About Etna Week

Etna Week is the major summer festival in Linguaglossa, a village on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in the province of Catania. Promoted by the Municipality in partnership with the Pro Loco and the CAI, it brings the historic town center to life for several days with volcano excursions, art exhibitions, tastings of local products, live performances, and concerts. The highlight is the renowned Premio Etna, a ceremony that has been attracting prominent figures from the Sicilian cultural and entertainment scene for over thirty years.

A week dedicated to Mount Etna in Linguaglossa

Etna Week is one of the most beloved summer events in Linguaglossa, an elegant village on the northern side of Mount Etna, in the province of Catania, Sicily. Promoted by the Municipality of Linguaglossa in collaboration with the Pro Loco and the local branch of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), the festival transforms the squares of the historic center for several days into a vibrant stage dedicated to celebrating the region's culture, nature, and volcanic traditions.

Between excursions, art, and gastronomy

The program harmoniously weaves together diverse experiences, designed for both local residents and visitors heading up towards Mount Etna. The days are filled with:

  • Guided excursions on the volcano's trails, from sunset walks at Monte Pizzillo to sunrises at Serrantico, organized in partnership with the CAI;
  • Exhibitions and installations in the squares, such as live wood carving demonstrations, painting displays, and photography exhibits;
  • Tastings of typical local products and food and wine evenings;
  • Shows, concerts, and screenings that enliven the summer nights.

The Premio Etna

The heart of the event is the Premio Etna, a historic award ceremony held in Piazza dei Vespri Siciliani that has been celebrating personalities from the worlds of culture, art, and entertainment linked to Sicily for over three decades. The ceremony, which is free to attend, serves as the grand finale of the week and welcomes notable guests from the island's artistic landscape.

A village at the foot of the volcano

Linguaglossa is one of the gateways to the Etna Park and a natural stop for those wishing to discover the northern side of the volcano. During Etna Week, the village showcases its true identity: the craftsmanship of lava stone and wood, the warmth of the community, and its deep bond with the mountain. It is the perfect opportunity to combine a visit to the historic center with an excursion on Mount Etna, experiencing the authentic atmosphere of a town that considers the volcano its very soul.

Etna Week — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Etna Week returns to animate Linguaglossa at the end of July and the beginning of August. Among the confirmed events, Saturday, August 1st, Via Roma will become a pedestrian zone from 8:30 PM with various events in the historic center, while on Sunday, August 2nd, the 32nd edition of the Premio Etna will be held in Piazza dei Vespri Siciliani. The full program, including excursions with the CAI, is currently being updated and may be supplemented with initiatives from local associations.

Etna Week 2026

The new edition of Etna Week returns to Linguaglossa with its usual format of events scattered throughout the village squares. Two major highlights are already confirmed: Saturday, August 1st, from 8:30 PM, the Via Roma – Pedestrian Zone initiative, which closes the heart of the historic center to traffic; and Sunday, August 2nd, at 9:00 PM, in Piazza dei Vespri Siciliani, the 32nd Premio Etna, the grand finale of the festival with free admission.

The detailed program, including excursions, exhibitions, and shows, is still being updated: the organizers note that it may be subject to changes and enriched with proposals from local associations.
