The summer festival of San Nicola Manfredi, featuring concerts, traditional rural feasts, and dance nights across the Sannio districts.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
"Estate Sannicolese" is not a festival confined to a single location: it is the summer event series of the Municipality of San Nicola Manfredi, in the province of Benevento, Campania. It spans the entire municipal territory, reflecting the unique geography of this Sannite town, which consists of hamlets and districts scattered across the hills overlooking the provincial capital. Pagliara, Monterocchetta, Santa Maria a Toro, Santa Maria Ingrisone, Toccanisi, Montebello, and Palati: throughout the summer, each of these locations hosts its own event, with illuminated squares and stages set up for the evening.
The unified calendar prevents scheduling conflicts between hamlets and allows the Municipality to program major concerts, religious feasts, dance nights, and historical re-enactments of rural life in a single schedule.
"Estate Sannicolese" blends diverse genres without a single thematic focus: it is openly a music and entertainment festival with events running from June to August. Recent editions have featured:
2025 marked the 4th edition of the festival, representing its most well-documented and extensive program to date. Presented by the municipal administration in the spring, it kicked off on June 2nd with Anna Falchi and Beppe Convertini, closing in the heart of summer on August 10th with the traditional "Liscio in piazza" dance night.
In between, a sequence of concerts: Gigi Finizio in Pagliara on June 21st, Fausto Leali in Monterocchetta on July 6th, another musical event in Santa Maria Ingrisone on July 19th, and on July 30th, Antonella Ruggiero accompanied by a fifty-piece orchestra in Santa Maria a Toro. The lineup also included Marco Carta. On August 2nd, in the Iannassi area, a regional selection for Miss Italia was held, while on August 9th, the "Nostalgia 90 Disco Music" night enlivened the town center.
Alongside the concerts, the festival highlights two events rooted in the agricultural heritage of the Sannio region: the Festa dell'Aia in the Montebello district and the Festa della Trebbiatura in the Palati area. These are moments where the ancient gestures of harvesting and threshing wheat are reenacted with vintage machinery, accompanied by stories from the elders and tables laden with local productsโa tangible, non-museum way of keeping memory and conviviality alive.
The Municipality of San Nicola Manfredi (ZIP 82010) is located a short distance from Benevento, in an area of hills cultivated with vineyards and olive groves that culturally belongs to the Sannio, a land of renowned wines and enduring popular traditions. The municipal territory is unusually fragmented: not a single town center, but a constellation of hamlets, each with its own church and its own feast.
The fifth edition, planned for 2026, was at the center of an administrative dispute that halted its organization. After the executive board issued directives on March 27, 2026, to verify the availability of national artists, define the budget, and build the calendar, the administration revoked the resolutionโwhich had allocated over 100,000 euros from the 2026 budgetโto comply with observations from the Court of Auditors. The decision sparked a political debate in the City Council that was still ongoing as of July 2026. Those wishing to know if and when the festival will resume should contact the Municipality directly, as they publish event calendars on their official website.
As of the update of this entry, the Municipality of San Nicola Manfredi has not released an official calendar for the 2026 edition of "Estate Sannicolese," nor a program of concerts or feasts. The period indicated is merely a reference based on the usual rhythm of the event, which in previous years took place between June and August.
The fifth edition had indeed been planned: on March 27, 2026, the mayor and councilors had directed municipal offices to verify the availability of national artists, quantify costs, and prepare the schedule, with an allocation of over 100,000 euros in the 2026 budget. In June, however, the executive board revoked the resolution to comply with observations from the Court of Auditors, and the decision triggered a clash with the opposition group "Progetto per San Nicola," which demanded clarity on the documents and the real reasons for the revocation. As of July 2026, the discussion was still open and no new dates had been announced.
To find out if the festival will be proposed again, and in what format, it is advisable to consult the "News ed Eventi" section of the municipal website or call +39 0824 56021.

Accommodation is concentrated in Benevento and nearby towns; it is best to stay in the city and travel by car. It is worth pairing a concert evening with a tasting of Sannio wines (Aglianico, Falanghina, Coda di Volpe) and a visit to the historic center of Benevento, home to the Arch of Trajan and the UNESCO-listed Santa Sofia complex.
