An entire summer of events between the village and the sea

With "E'state a Bernalda e Metaponto", the Municipality of Bernalda, in the Province of Matera, brings together under a single direction the dense calendar of events that from the beginning of summer accompanies residents and tourists until September. A widespread programme that links the historic centre of Bernalda to the marina of Metaponto, one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Lucanian Ionian coast.

What to expect

The festival combines different genres and audiences: concerts of light and live music, theatre performances, sporting events, moments dedicated to children and popular traditions. Among the recurring events, the following stand out:

• Gusto Italia in Tour, the travelling fair of food and wine specialities and crafts, hosted on the Metaponto seafront;
• Metaponto Beach Festival, the big summer music festival set near the Castello di Torremare;
• StraBernalda, the running and entertainment event that runs through Corso Umberto;
• the food festivals that promote the typical products of the area.

The climax: the patron saint festival

The summer programme culminates with the celebrations in honour of San Bernardino da Siena, patron saint of Bernalda, which in the second half of August transform the town into a great meeting point between faith, music and entertainment.

Bernalda, linked to the origins of the family of director Francis Ford Coppola, offers the charm of a Lucanian village; Metaponto, with its beaches and the archaeological area of Magna Graecia, completes the experience with the sea and history.
