The great international exhibition of contemporary art in Venice
The Biennale Arte is the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, an institution founded in 1895 and one of the most prestigious in the world in the field of contemporary art. For about six months, from May to November, Venice hosts artists, curators, and collectors from every continent, becoming the global reference point for artistic debate.
The event is divided into two main components: the International Exhibition, curated by an artistic director who defines its theme, and the National Participations, hosted in the historic pavilions of the Giardini, the Arsenale, and numerous venues in the historic center. Dozens of Collateral Events spread throughout the city are added to these.
The two main exhibition venues are the Giardini della Biennale, with their historic national pavilions, and the evocative Corderie dell'Arsenale, the ancient shipyard of the Serenissima. The spread of exhibitions in palaces, churches, and unconventional spaces in Venice makes the visit a journey through the city itself.
Promoted in Venice, in Veneto, the Biennale Arte is an event that guides international contemporary art trends and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each edition, confirming the lagoon city's role as a cultural crossroads of excellence.
The 61st International Art Exhibition, titled "In Minor Keys", is open to the public from May 9 to November 22, 2026, at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and numerous venues in the historic center of Venice. The international exhibition, conceived by curator Koyo Kouoh and realized by the team she selected, brings together 110 participants including artists, duos, collectives, and organizations from many different geographies.
Alongside the main exhibition, the 100 National Participations animate the historic pavilions of the Giardini (29), the Arsenale (25), and the city center (46): seven countries are participating for the first time. 31 collateral events spread throughout the city complete the program.
The exhibition unfolds between the Giardini, the Corderie dell'Arsenale, and venues spread across the historic center. Hours, tickets, and details at labiennale.org.
