The contemporary art biennial returns to Ancona after 25 years, at the Mole Vanvitelliana
After twenty-five years of absence, Premio Marche returns to Ancona with the exhibition Erratica, set up at the Mole Vanvitelliana, the grand 18th-century architecture overlooking the regional capital's port. This is a return full of meaning: the prize was founded in Ancona in 1957 by Alfredo Trifogli, and for decades it was one of the most important references for Italian contemporary art. Promoted by AMIA - Associazione Marchigiana Iniziative Artistiche and the Municipality of Ancona, with the support of the Marche Region, the exhibition is a national event in the heart of the Marche.
The exhibition title reflects the prize's own journey: an "erratic" path, marked by suspensions and stops in various Marche towns before returning to its birthplace. The exhibition thus reflects on the meaning of creating art today, between memory and experimentation, and offers a journey through over sixty years of artistic history.
The exhibition is organised into three distinct sections:
As part of the exhibition, the Premio Marche 2025 was awarded to the artist Simone Berti, while the "Alfredo Trifogli" Plaque, dedicated to the prize's founder, went to Edoardo Piermattei.
With Erratica, the Mole Vanvitelliana confirms itself as one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the Marche, and Ancona reasserts itself as a city of contemporary art. The exhibition, accompanied by a rich program of guided tours, educational activities, and conferences, has enjoyed great public success, with thousands of visitors from outside the region.
Open since November 22, 2025, the exhibition Erratica - Premio Marche 2025 continued its run until February 28, 2026 in the spaces of the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona. During January and February, the exhibition continued to welcome the public with its three-section layout, from the history of the prize since 1957 to the contemporary artists selected by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio.
The event, promoted by AMIA and the Municipality of Ancona with the support of the Marche Region, concluded with great public success, recording thousands of visitors, including many from outside the region, and confirming the Mole as one of the main contemporary art hubs in the Marche.
The exhibition is divided into three curatorial sections:
Guided tours, educational activities, and conferences accompanied the entire opening period of the exhibition.
