About Ecofuturo

Established in 2014, Ecofuturo Festival is Italy's premier event dedicated to ecotechnologies that are already available and ready for implementation: renewable energy, energy communities, sustainable agriculture, green building, electric mobility, and the circular economy. Four days of free conferences, workshops, and courses at the Città dell'Altra Economia in the Testaccio district of Rome, where businesses, researchers, and citizens discuss practical solutions for the ecological transition.

A festival of solutions, not just good intentions

Ecofuturo Festival is the leading Italian event focused on so-called concrete ecotechnologies: mature, ready-to-install technologies that make sustainability an economic reality before it is an environmental one. Born in 2014 from a network of companies, professionals, researchers, and communicators, the festival has established itself over the years as one of the most followed online events in Italy in its sector, and since 2024, it has found its home in the Capital.

The Città dell'Altra Economia, in Testaccio

The venue is the Città dell'Altra Economia, located in the former Mattatoio (slaughterhouse) of Testaccio, a space owned by the Municipality of Rome historically dedicated to solidarity-based economy, fair trade, and critical consumption: a setting perfectly in tune with the spirit of the event. The spacious pavilions house conference halls, exhibition areas, and outdoor spaces, just a short walk from the Tiber River and the Monte dei Cocci, in the heart of one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods. The festival takes place in person and simultaneously via live streaming; sessions remain available on the official YouTube channel, a feature that has significantly expanded the event's audience well beyond Rome and the Lazio region.

Recurring themes

The program is organized into thematic blocks that return each year, updated with the latest industry developments:

  • Energy: photovoltaics, heat pumps for condominiums, renewable energy communities, biogas and biomethane, geothermal energy, agrivoltaics, and combating energy poverty.
  • Agriculture and natural resources: new agricultural techniques, bio-electroactive gardens, hemp, reforestation, and sustainable management of basins and lagoons.
  • Industry and production conversion: high-temperature heat pumps, carbon storage, landfill valorization, and critical analysis of greenwashing.
  • Cities and climate: sustainable construction materials, prefabricated straw houses, thermal insulation, mitigation of urban heat islands, urban greenery, electric mobility, and micromobility.

An informative and free format

The format is that of an open conference: technical speakers explain systems, costs, and return-on-investment times in an accessible way, alternating with book presentations, screenings, and social moments. There is no shortage of lunches cooked with solar ovens and tastings of organic wines—small demonstrative gestures that summarize the festival's philosophy. Admission is free, with mandatory online registration.

Why it is worth attending

Ecofuturo is neither a trade fair nor an academic conference: it is a place where a condominium administrator, a farmer, a small business owner, or a simple citizen can understand, with numbers in hand, which solutions are already viable today. For Rome and the Lazio region, it also represents one of the most solid appointments dedicated to the ecological transition, capable of bringing research, business, and public administration to the same table.

Ecofuturo — edition 2026

The thirteenth edition of Ecofuturo Festival was held from May 13 to 16, 2026, at the Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio, Rome, with the theme "The eco-present is convenient": four days to demonstrate that sustainability is already the most economically advantageous answer today, covering energy, agriculture, industrial conversion, and urban climate. Free admission with mandatory registration.

2026 Edition — "The eco-present is convenient"

The 13th edition of Ecofuturo took place from May 13 to 16, 2026, at the Città dell'Altra Economia in Rome, both in person and via live streaming. The guiding theme chosen by the organizers, The eco-present is convenient, overturns the rhetoric of a sustainable future: the technologies already exist and it is advantageous to adopt them now.

The program was divided into four blocks: energy and energy poverty (heat pumps for apartments and condominiums, energy communities, biogas, agrivoltaics, hydroelectric, geothermal), agriculture and natural resources, industry and production conversion (high-temperature heat pumps, carbon storage, landfill valorization, greenwashing), and urban climate and lifestyles (sustainable materials, prefabricated straw houses, insulation, heat islands, urban greenery, electric mobility).

Enriching the days were the screening of the film Purpose: an economy to feel good, presentations of the books Conversations on climate and It has always been hot, the traditional lunches cooked with solar ovens, and organic wine tastings.
