The wine festival in the spirit of the Etruscans

DiVino Etrusco is the premier wine festival of Tarquinia, in the province of Viterbo, Lazio. Every year, in the second half of August, the city's medieval historic centre transforms for seven nights into an evocative tasting trail winding through streets, squares, and palaces. The event celebrates over three thousand years of winemaking history written by the Etruscans and is dedicated to the wineries, wines, and oenological traditions of the cities that once formed the ancient Etruscan Dodecapolis: Arezzo, Bolsena, Cerveteri, Chiusi, Cortona, Orvieto, Perugia, Piombino, Tarquinia, Veio, Volterra, and Vulci.

An itinerary between wine glasses and medieval palaces

The heart of the event is the tasting trail: participating wineries offer a selection of labels representative of their diverse territorial identities, while sommeliers from Fisar Tuscia Viterbese guide the public through the discovery of grape varieties, traditions, and wine stories. With a glass around their necks, visitors stroll from stop to stop in the illuminated village, amidst medieval towers and views of the Lazio Maremma countryside, in an atmosphere that blends conviviality and beauty.

Wine, art, and archaeology

DiVino Etrusco is more than just a tasting: every evening is enriched by concerts, live performances, exhibitions, art installations, cultural meetings, and guided tours. A symbolic venue for the event is Palazzo Vitelleschi, a 15th-century jewel housing the National Archaeological Museum of Tarquinia, which opens its halls in the evening with special appointments, including a lectio magistralis by director Vincenzo Bellelli. The bond with archaeology is profound: Tarquinia, with its UNESCO World Heritage Monterozzi Etruscan necropolis, is one of the capitals of ancient Etruria.

The 2026 edition: twenty years of DiVino Etrusco

In 2026, the festival celebrates a major milestone: its twentieth edition, scheduled from August 20-23 and 27-29. Seven nights to celebrate twenty years of an event that has become a staple of summer in the Tuscia region. Alongside producers from the Dodecapolis territories, the anniversary edition expands its Mediterranean horizon with wineries from Sicily, Sardinia, and Calabria.

A local event

DiVino Etrusco is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Tarquinia, in collaboration with Pro Loco Tarquinia and food and wine expert Carlo Zucchetti, with the support of the Lazio Region and the patronage of the Province of Viterbo, the Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerce, and the Ministry of Culture through the Archaeological Park of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. A synergy that makes the event a showcase of excellence for the wines of Tuscia and the entire Etruria region.
