Independent music and DIY festival in the Cloister of San Francesco
Since 2010, Disorder has been the independent music and DIY festival of Eboli, in the province of Salerno, Campania. Born as Disorder Beer Fest from the desire to give space to artists far from market logic, it has grown into a reference point for alternative culture and music across the entire Salerno region, without ever abandoning the DIY spirit that created it.
The festival is organized by the Macrostudio APS association, a collective that over the years has occupied diverse spaces—the Arena di Sant'Antonio in Eboli's historic center, the Paestum area, and the village of Oliveto Citra—always bringing the same vision of accessible, affordable culture. The current team includes Giuseppe Biondi as president, Felice Calenda in the technical sector, Daniela Cardiello in administration and logistics, and Manuele Altieri in communications.
After two editions hosted elsewhere, Disorder has returned to Eboli, choosing the San Francesco Monumental Complex in Piazza San Francesco: one of the first historically documented Franciscan settlements, dating back to 1286 and renovated in the 16th century. Today, it houses the ManES, the National Archaeological Museum of Eboli and the Middle Sele Valley. For three nights, the arched cloister transforms into a sonic square, following the organizers' precise vision: turning a historic site into a collective experience based on sharing, presence, and the redefinition of space.
The theme chosen for the 12th edition is «Rifiorire / Resistere» (Reflower / Resist), a duality that the organizers present not only as an artistic key but as a true declaration of intent and a political and cultural stance in the contemporary debate. Reflowering as the ability to restart after breaks and changes of venue; resisting as a choice to remain outside the market dynamics that govern much of the Italian music industry.
Live music begins every night at 8:30 PM and spans highly diverse genres, with no hierarchy between well-known names and emerging acts. Highlights from the latest edition include:
Along the cloister's corridors lies the EXPO area, which is not merely a commercial backdrop but a space integrated into the festival experience: vintage, handmade, independent distribution, art, and crafts. This is where the «DIY» aspect of the subtitle becomes concrete, with labels, fanzines, illustrators, and small producers exhibiting and selling their work directly. Completing the picture is DIYSORDER, the official merchandise shop for the current and past editions, designed to reaffirm the project's independent soul.
Eboli is one of the gateways to the Sele Plain, just a few kilometers from Paestum and the Cilento coast: a medium-sized town that thrives in summer on scattered events. Edition after edition, Disorder has built a young, curious audience that travels from across the province of Salerno and inland Campania, drawn as much by the concerts as by the intimate atmosphere of the cloister. The ticket price, ten euros per night, remains a deliberately political choice: making independent culture sustainable even for those on a budget.
Eboli's historic center is easily explored on foot, and the San Francesco complex is just a short walk from the main squares. Travelers can combine the festival nights with a visit to the ManES and, during the day, the archaeological sites of Paestum or the beaches of the Sele Plain: a combination that makes Disorder an excellent excuse to discover this part of Campania off the beaten path.
The 2026 edition marked the festival's return to Eboli after two editions hosted in other locations in the province of Salerno. The choice of the San Francesco Monumental Complex gave the festival a unique setting: the 16th-century cloister became the stage for independent music from Campania and beyond for three nights.
The theme «Rifiorire / Resistere» (Reflower / Resist) permeated the entire event, from the musical programming to the choice of space: reflowering as a restart, resisting as a claim for a way of making culture that does not follow market logic. Alongside the concerts, the EXPO area along the cloister's corridors hosted exhibitors of vintage, handmade, independent publishing, art, and crafts, while the DIYSORDER shop featured merchandise from the current and past editions.
Music program starts at 8:30 PM every night. For all three days, the EXPO area is active in the Cloister of San Francesco (vintage, handmade, independent distribution, art, and crafts) along with the DIYSORDER shop.
