Two weekends in July featuring local cuisine, dancing, and tradition in Ponte San Pellegrino
Every July, the small hamlet of Confine, along the Ponte San Pellegrino in the Municipality of San Felice sul Panaro (Province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna), becomes the meeting point for the entire Bassa region thanks to the Confine Festival "Madonna della Valle". It is an authentic village festival, organized by the Circolo ARCI di Confine with the support of community volunteers, which attracts thousands of people every year from San Felice, Mirandola, Camposanto, and the entire Modenese plain.
The event owes its name to the geographical location of the area: since the distant 1710, this land marked the historical border between the Duchy of Modena, under the lordship of the Este family, and the Duchy of Mirandola, ruled by the Pico family. The devotion to the Madonna della Valle, to whom the festival is dedicated, is rooted in the agricultural tradition of these lands crossed by the Panaro river.
The festival's motto well summarizes the spirit of the event: "Fun, excellent food, and live music". The heart of the festival is the food stand, where you can taste Emilian cuisine dishes prepared by volunteers: pumpkin tortelloni, maccheroni al pettine with ragรน, mixed fried fish, grilled meats, and traditional desserts. Next to the stand, the dance area hosts live music and ballroom dancing orchestras every evening, with a dedicated pizzeria for those who want to stay late.
The festival combines the religious and popular dimensions: the opening evening is accompanied by the procession in honor of the Madonna della Valle, followed by the musical band. The two weekends also feature highly anticipated events such as the Tractor Rally and the MotorsValley classic car and motorcycle rally, which liven up the festival Sundays. Admission is free, with ample parking available: a genuine example of how the Bassa modenese knows how to celebrate with good food and music.
The 2026 edition of the Confine Festival "Madonna della Valle" confirms the formula over two July weekends, at the sports field adjacent to the Circolo ARCI di Confine. The festival opens every evening at 7:00 PM with the Emilian cuisine food stand and the dance area with live music and ballroom dancing. The opening evening of Thursday, July 16, is dedicated to the religious procession in honor of the Madonna della Valle, accompanied by the musical band.
Traditional Emilian menu: pumpkin tortelloni (with ragรน, butter and sage), maccheroni al pettine with ragรน, mixed fried fish, mixed grilled meats, sausage, ribs, steak, and French fries. Dessert trolley with ring cake, zuppa inglese, and sorbet. In the dance area: piadine, fried gnocchi, and round pizza.
The ballroom dancing orchestras for each evening will be announced on the festival's official website and social media channels in the weeks preceding the event.
