The magic of Christmas in the Basilica of San Martino
In Alzano Lombardo, in Val Seriana (province of Bergamo), the Christmas Concert is one of the most cherished events of the Advent period. The venue is exceptional: the Basilica of San Martino Vescovo, a masterpiece of Lombard Baroque, famous for its wooden sacristies carved by the Fantoni family, located in Piazza Caduti Partigiani.
The concert traditionally offers a Christmas-themed repertoire, with choral performances ranging from gospel to Christmas carols. In recent years, the stage has hosted the gospel choir S. Antonio David's Singers, capable of warming the solemn atmosphere of the Basilica with their energy.
The event, with free admission, is promoted by the Municipality of Alzano Lombardo together with the Pro Loco (local tourism board) and is traditionally held in the second half of December, close to Christmas. It is a moment of gathering that combines the spiritual and cultural dimensions, in the heart of the town decorated for the holidays.
For those visiting Val Seriana during the holidays, the Christmas Concert in the Basilica is an opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere of the Bergamo region while admiring one of Alzano Lombardo's artistic treasures.
The 2026 edition of the Christmas Concert is expected in the second half of December, following the tradition of the Basilica of San Martino in Alzano Lombardo hosting a Christmas concert close to the holidays.
The program, once confirmed, will reprise the established format, with choral performances featuring a repertoire of gospel and Christmas carols. Admission is free. The precise date and the names of the performers will be announced by the Municipality of Alzano Lombardo and the Pro Loco.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organizers closer to Christmas. Recent tradition includes an evening concert in the Basilica of San Martino with a gospel and Christmas repertoire (in recent years featuring the choir S. Antonio David's Singers).
Alzano Lombardo can be reached from Bergamo by the Valli tram (line T1). The Basilica of San Martino is located in Piazza Caduti Partigiani, in the town center.
The concert is traditionally held in the second half of December (in recent years around December 19th, 8:45 PM). Free admission.
