A Showcase for Future Voices

The Concert Season of the Osimo Academy of Lyric Art is the event where one of Italy's most prestigious opera singing schools opens its doors to the public. Promoted by the Academy with the support of the Municipality of Osimo, the festival takes place in the intimate and refined La Nuova Fenice Theatre, in Piazza Marconi, in the historic centre of the Marche town in the province of Ancona. The absolute protagonists are the Academy's students: young singers selected from numerous countries around the world, who hone their vocal and stage preparation in Osimo.

The Osimo Academy of Lyric Art

Founded in 1979 and currently directed by Vincenzo De Vivo, the Academy of Lyric Art is based in Osimo, where it offers advanced courses for opera. Over the decades, it has hosted legendary names in opera such as Katia Ricciarelli, Alberto Zedda, Raina Kabaivanska, William Matteuzzi, and Ernesto Palacio as directors and teachers. Its graduates now grace major international stages, from the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro to the Verdi Theatre in Trieste and the Municipal Theatre of Bologna. The concert season celebrates this very training path, giving young performers the opportunity to perform in front of an audience during the academic year.

Seven Concerts Featuring Opera, Song, and Sacred Music

The programme consists of seven evenings with a different theme, designed to take the audience on a journey through the many facets of opera singing. Highlights include 'Christmas Song', with opera arias and Christmas melodies, 'Opera and Song' dedicated to music from theatres and salons of the 19th and 20th centuries, 'How We Laughed in the Theatre' focusing on comic opera and operetta, 'To Each, If She Wills, Woman Makes Her Mark' exploring the female world of opera, 'The Songs of Their Land' featuring folk music from the eleven countries the students come from, the production 'Opera on Stage', and the final evening 'Opera in Concert', dedicated to scholarship supporters with the presentation of awards to graduating students.
