Parades in costume, street artists and shows in the historic center
'Como… che allegria!' is the name with which the Municipality of Como celebrates its Carnival, animating the historic center of the Larian city. For two days, the most beautiful squares — Duomo, Cavour, Volta, and Perretta — become a large, widespread stage, with distributed events involving families, children, and the curious.
The Como Carnival focuses on creativity: artisanal costumes and Venetian masks parade through the streets of the center, accompanied by music and itinerant shows. There are also street artists, acrobatic performances, and the inevitable giant soap bubbles, which enchant young and old alike.
The program alternates moments for the little ones — face painting, live music, and costume contests — with evening parades designed for the adult audience. Among the most anticipated presences are the famous Schignano masks, an expression of the great Carnival tradition of the Como valleys. The event, organized by the Municipality of Como, is free admission.
The Como Carnival returns on February 14 and 15, 2026 with 'Como… che allegria!', taking place in the squares of the historic center. Two days of itinerant shows, parades in costume, children's entertainment, and evening parades, with the participation of Schignano masks and figures in Venetian costume. Free admission.
The Saturday steampunk itinerant show, the parade of fifteen artisanal Venetian costumes, and the performance of the Schignano masks.
The Carnival takes place in the historic center of Como, between Piazza Duomo, Cavour, Volta, and Perretta. The city is well connected by train (Como San Giovanni and Como Nord Lago stations) and by car from the A9 motorway.
All events are free and take place outdoors in the squares of the center.
