Comasina Neighborhood Festival

The festival of a North Milan neighborhood

The Comasina Neighborhood Festival is one of the most deeply rooted traditions in Municipality 9 of Milan. It takes place in Piazza Gasparri, the heart of the Comasina neighborhood, for many years in the same location: the second Sunday in May. It is organized by the Comitato Quartiere Comasina APS (Comasina Neighborhood Committee APS) together with numerous associations active in the area, and it represents a moment of strong aggregation for residents.

A neighborhood that comes together

Comasina is a working-class neighborhood born in the second half of the twentieth century on the northern outskirts of Milan. Its annual festival is the occasion when the neighborhood recognizes itself as a community: for a day, the square comes alive with stalls, games, music, and activities for all ages. Over the years, the festival has involved entities such as the parish, sports clubs, running groups, and volunteer associations, in a mosaic that reflects the social life of the territory.

A renovated square

The 2026 edition takes place at a particular moment for the neighborhood: Piazza Gasparri has undergone a redevelopment that has introduced new play areas, ping pong tables, a pétanque court, and green spaces. The festival thus also becomes a way to experience and enhance the new playable square.

A reduced edition

For 2026, the festival will be held in a reduced format compared to the committee's intentions and residents' expectations, due to organizational and bureaucratic constraints. The organizers have chosen the procedure for small events (PIDS) in order to guarantee the continuity of a historic event for Comasina, confirming the importance of keeping a community tradition alive in the Milanese neighborhood.
