About Classica Viva

The Classica Viva Festival is a classical music event that brings an orchestra of nineteen young virtuosos, graduates or soon-to-be graduates from the Conservatories of Pesaro, Fermo, and Cesena, to the stage. Founded in 2026 on the initiative of the Sirolo Cultural Circle "Bruno Barocci", the festival offers two symphonic concerts between the Cortesi Theatre in Sirolo and the Ridotto of the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, complemented by morning concert-lectures for over 600 students from local schools.

A New Orchestra for the Marches Audience

The Festival Classica Viva โ€“ Giovani virtuosi in orchestra is a new classical music event debuting in 2026 on the Conero Riviera, between the Municipality of Sirolo and the regional capital Ancona, in the province of Ancona (Marche). The idea is simple yet ambitious: to bring together nineteen young local instrumentalists into a single ensemble and guide the audienceโ€”especially the younger and more curiousโ€”in discovering symphonic repertoire.

Who is Playing

The orchestra comprises nineteen musicians who have graduated with honors or are in the final years of their three-year and two-year programs at the Conservatories of Pesaro, Fermo, and Cesena. Some of them are part of the prestigious Italian Youth Orchestra based in Fiesole. Conducting the ensemble is Jacopo Mengarelli, originally from Sirolo, a graduate in piano and physics, and soon to complete his Master's in Orchestral Conducting at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan. Artistic direction is entrusted to Nicoletta Latini.

"Music That Tells Stories"

The common thread of the first edition is music that tells stories: symphonic pieces linked to cinema, opera, and stage music. The program features composers such as Vivaldi, Grieg, Rota, Puccini, and Mascagni, juxtaposing the great repertoire with pieces written for the occasion by the cellist and composer Davide Moretti, a twenty-four-year-old from Monte San Vito, who serves as the principal cello of the ensemble.

A Festival Focused on Schools

Alongside the two evening concerts, Classica Viva dedicates a significant part of its project to education: four morning concert-lectures involve over 600 students from schools in Sirolo, Numana, and Ancona, hosted at the Cinema Arena in Numana and the Ridotto of the Teatro delle Muse. This is a concrete way to introduce new generations to live music and to root the festival in the cultural fabric of the region.

A Long-Standing Musical Tradition

Behind the festival is the Circolo Culturale di Sirolo "Bruno Barocci" APS, an organization with over thirty years of experience in local music programming, already known for its summer series Sirolo in musica and Le ore dell'organo. With Classica Viva, the Circle expands its reach by directly involving Ancona and focusing on young talents from the Marche region.

Classica Viva โ€” edition 2026

The first edition of the Classica Viva Festival was held on April 25, 2026, at the Cortesi Theatre in Sirolo and on April 27, 2026, at the Ridotto of the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona. Two symphonic concerts performed by an orchestra of 19 young musicians conducted by Jacopo Mengarelli, featuring music by Vivaldi, Grieg, Rota, Puccini, and Mascagni on the theme "music that tells stories".
