The long weekend of June 2nd between music, culture, and Republic Day
Civitanova Tricolore is the event with which Civitanova Marche, a coastal city in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region, celebrates Republic Day on June 2nd. Promoted by the Azienda dei Teatri di Civitanova together with the Municipality and numerous local associations, it is a widespread festival that transforms squares, theaters, museums, and the seafront into open-air stages for several days, illuminated in green, white, and red.
The schedule combines major free concerts, film screenings, book presentations, art exhibitions, and events for children. The musical evenings in Piazza XX Settembre, under the "Risuona la Piazza" banner, attract thousands of people and have hosted well-known names in Italian music over the years. Alongside the main events, the program offers:
Civitanova Tricolore is not a single event but a journey that crosses the entire city: from the Teatro Annibal Caro and the Art Gallery of Civitanova Alta to the Lido Cluana and the Piermanni seafront. Activities for children and families, workshops, and games liven up the afternoon hours, while the evening is dedicated to popular music. It's a formula that blends national identity, culture, and entertainment, enhancing both the historic center and the coast.
For those visiting the Marche region at the beginning of summer, Civitanova Tricolore is the ideal opportunity to discover a lively and welcoming city at its most festive moment. Free admission to the main concerts, the family atmosphere, and the variety of offerings make it an event suitable for all ages, perfect for combining sea, culture, and tradition in a single long weekend.
The 2026 edition of Civitanova Tricolore was spread over five days, from May 29 to June 2, organized by the Azienda dei Teatri di Civitanova with the Municipality and numerous associations. It kicked off on Friday, May 29, with the lighting of the tricolor lights on Palazzo Sforza and the "Danzón" wind concert at the Teatro Annibal Caro. Amidst cinema, book presentations, and an inclusive basketball tournament, the celebration grew towards the grand finale on June 2nd.
On Monday, June 1, in Piazza XX Settembre, the "Risuona la Piazza" format gave way to Love Hit, the party celebrating Multiradio's 50th anniversary with twelve DJs and special guest Marco Melandri. On Tuesday, June 2, after the gathering of Fiat 500s and the kite festival on the seafront, the stage in Piazza XX Settembre welcomed the free concert by Nek with his "Hits Live.".
By train: Civitanova Marche-Montegranaro station on the Adriatic line Bologna-Lecce, a few minutes' walk from the center and the seafront. By car: take the Civitanova Marche exit from the A14 highway, then the SS77 dual carriageway. By plane: Ancona-Falconara airport about 50 km away.
Main concerts in Piazza XX Settembre and the widespread events are generally free admission. The festival is concentrated on the days around June 2nd, with evening events starting at 9 PM and daytime activities in the afternoon.
On concert evenings, crowds are high: it's advisable to arrive early and reach the center on foot. Numerous bars, restaurants, and beach establishments along the seafront remain open during the festival.
