Ciammella Festival of Veroli

The 45th edition of the Ciammella Festival took place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Borgo Santa Croce, Veroli, in the province of Frosinone, with free admission from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. As per tradition, the day was intertwined with religious celebrations in honor of the Madonna della Pietà, including services, a procession, and a brass band. The absolute star was the Veroli ciammella, the double-cooked anise bread — first boiled, then finished in a wood-fired oven — prepared by the village's "ciammellare," accompanied by the tasting of garofolato and a market fair featuring handicrafts and typical products from the Ciociaria region. The festival concluded in the evening at 9:00 PM with a folk music concert by the group Aria Meridionale, featuring drums, dances, and captivating melodies.
