The holiday village, festive lights, and the Ferris wheel by the EUR Lake
Christmas in EUR is the major holiday event that lights up the EUR district every winter, located in the Ninth Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region. Promoted by Eur District in collaboration with the Ninth Municipality, the festival turns avenues, squares, and parks into a giant open-air Advent calendar, where the district's rationalist architecture provides a stunning backdrop for lights, markets, concerts, and family-friendly attractions.
The heart of the festivities is the themed village on Viale America, overlooking the picturesque EUR Lake. This is where you will find the wooden market stalls, craft stands, local food vendors, attractions, and stages for live performances. The village is open daily, offering a rich program of events that accompanies residents and visitors from November 22, 2025, until the Epiphany.
The symbol of this edition is the Rome Eye, a 50-meter-tall Ferris wheel installed on Viale Oceania, billed as the largest ever seen in Rome. From its heated glass cabins, the view stretches over the Square Colosseum, the EUR Lake, and the rooftops of Southern Rome, offering a unique perspective of the city. The wheel also doubles as a stage: on select evenings, it transforms into a DJ set suspended in the sky.
Alongside the central village, the Natale Diffuso (Widespread Christmas) project brings the celebration throughout the area with thirteen itinerant stops across parks, squares, and cultural spaces in the Ninth Municipality. Concerts, street performances, cinema, literary meetings, and charity initiatives engage various neighborhoods, creating a shared, participatory Christmas experience designed for families and children.
Now in its fifth edition, the event has become a staple of the Roman winter calendar. Between the lighting of the tree, Christmas concerts in local churches, and cultural exhibitions in EUR spaces, Christmas in EUR blends holiday atmosphere with the celebration of one of Rome's most distinctive districts.
The fifth edition of Christmas in EUR takes place from November 22, 2025, to January 6, 2026, with the themed village on Viale America open daily, generally from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Among the highlights is the Rome Eye Ferris wheel, 50 meters high, overlooking the EUR Lake. The program features a mix of markets, concerts, shows, cultural exhibitions, and the itinerant initiatives of the Natale Diffuso project throughout the Ninth Municipality.
The EUR district is served by the Metro Line B (stops: EUR Magliana, EUR Palasport, and EUR Fermi), just a short walk from the lake and Viale America. By car, it can be reached via the Grande Raccordo Anulare (EUR exit) and Via Cristoforo Colombo; during peak times, we recommend using public transport.
Admission to the village and the 'Natale Diffuso' initiatives is free. Some attractions, such as the Rome Eye Ferris wheel and the ice rink, require a separate paid ticket. The village is open daily, generally from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
