The patron saint's feast of Monte Vidon Corrado

The Celebrations in honor of Saint Vitus the Martyr are the most heartfelt event of the year for the community of Monte Vidon Corrado, a small municipality in the Province of Fermo perched on a hill about 550 meters above sea level, with a view of the Sibillini Mountains. Saint Vitus, a martyr venerated since antiquity and invoked as a protector, is the patron saint of the town, and his feast day falls on June 15th: around this date, the village comes together for days of devotion and popular celebration.

Between faith and community

The religious heart of the feast is the solemn Holy Mass in honor of the patron saint, followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the historic center: the statue of Saint Vitus is carried on the shoulders of the faithful, accompanied by prayers, songs, and often the town band. It is a rite that is renewed from generation to generation and links the identity of the town to its historic Church of Saint Vitus the Martyr, a building with 16th-century origins, rebuilt in neoclassical style in the mid-18th century, which houses the Baroque chapel dedicated to the saint.

Alongside the sacred part, the celebrations are also an occasion for gatherings for young and old. The food stalls set up by the Pro Loco offer typical dishes and products from the Fermo area, from ciauscolo to cured meats, to wines like Rosso Piceno. The evenings come alive with live music, entertainment, and events designed for families and children, in a genuine and welcoming atmosphere that is the true hallmark of village festivals in the Marche region.

An artistic village to discover

Experiencing the feast of Saint Vitus is also an opportunity to discover Monte Vidon Corrado, the birthplace of the great painter Osvaldo Licini (1894-1958), a master of Italian abstractionism: the Osvaldo Licini House Museum and the Study Center house many of his works. A small and charming village, where devotion to the patron saint intertwines with art, the hilly landscape, and the hospitality of the local people.
