The historic summer snail festival in the hamlet of Casumaro, Cento
The Casumaro Snail Festival is one of the most deeply rooted and beloved festivals in the Ferrara area. Founded in the 1970s, it reached its 51st edition in 2025 and is preparing for a new summer season in 2026. It takes place in Casumaro, a hamlet straddling the Municipalities of Cento (in the province of Ferrara) and Modena, and is organized with great passion by ASD Casumaro Calcio, the town's sports club that has been reinvesting the festival's proceeds into the community for decades.
The heart of the event is naturally the snail, one of the most typical and delicious ingredients of the cuisine of these lands. In the gastronomic stands, you'll find it in all its forms: from the classic bruschetta with snails to tortelli, from tagliatelle to penne, up to more characteristic preparations like snails 'alla casumarese', 'alla borgognona', fried, and stewed. For those who prefer other flavors, the menu also offers the great classics of Emilian tradition, from pumpkin tortelloni to truffle specialties and beef tagliata, not to mention homemade desserts.
In addition to good food, the festival offers live music, dancing, and entertainment for all ages every evening, in a convivial atmosphere typical of village festivals. In the final days, the event expands into the town center with a fair full of stalls, while the grand finale is marked by the traditional fireworks display. The gastronomic stand, large, covered, and air-conditioned, ensures comfort even on the hottest summer evenings in Emilia.
More than just a food and wine festival, the Snail Festival is a landmark for Casumaro and the entire area between Cento and Bondeno: thousands of visitors arrive each year from the provinces of Ferrara, Modena, and Bologna to gather around the tables, support the local football team, and celebrate a popular tradition that is renewed from generation to generation.
For 2026, ASD Casumaro Calcio renews the appointment with the historic summer festival, scheduled from July 31 to August 10 at the Casumaro sports field (Via Boschetti 21), a hamlet of the Municipality of Cento, in the province of Ferrara.
The gastronomic stand, large, covered, and air-conditioned, opens every evening from 7:30 PM and offers the menu that has made the festival famous: snails in all their variations (bruschetta, tortelli, tagliatelle, penne, snails 'alla casumarese', 'alla borgognona', fried, and stewed) alongside the great classics of Emilian tradition and homemade desserts. In the final days, from August 7 to 10, the town center comes alive with the fair, while the closing evening of August 10 is enhanced by the fireworks.
The detailed program of musical evenings and guest artists will be published by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event on the official channels (festival website and Facebook page).
