Castelvetrano Black Bread Festival

II edition: October 18-19, 2025

The second edition of the Castelvetrano Black Bread Festival was held on October 18 and 19, 2025, in the historic center, with great public success and participation. Twelve local bakers offered black bread in multiple preparations, accompanied by fresh oil of the Nocellara del Belice PDO variety.

Saturday, October 18, opened at 4:30 PM in Piazza Matteotti with an inauguration accompanied by the "Scrusciu di Sicilia" drums, followed by greetings from authorities and the event "Excellence in the Field: from Black Bread to Sports Stars." In the evening, DJ sets, bands, and live music by the "Chewingum band" took place along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and in the Sistema delle Piazze.

On Sunday, October 19, starting at 10:00 AM with the Tammorra roaming the festival, there was show cooking by the Hotel Institute, a seminar on the ritual gestures of bread-making, group dancing, karaoke, concerts, and the "Alleys of Art and Craftsmanship" urban tour with a market exhibition and street art.
