Parade floats and masks in the historic center, on the outskirts of Verona
In Castel d'Azzano, a municipality on the southern outskirts of Verona, Carnival is an event rooted in popular tradition. Every year, the historic center comes alive for the grand parade of floats, built by local carnival committees, accompanied by masked groups, colorful costumes, and music.
The parade winds through the town's streets, transforming it into a widespread celebration, with stalls, craft markets, food stands, food trucks, and rides for children. The event is included in the coordinated calendar of carnivals in the province of Verona, which attracts thousands of participants to the squares of the region every year.
The Veronese Carnival has a long history, linked to the figure of the Papà del Gnoco and the city's bacchanals; in the provincial municipalities, like Castel d'Azzano, this tradition is expressed through popular local parades that keep the popular and community spirit of the festival alive.
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Castel d'Azzano celebrates its Carnival with the traditional parade of floats, masks, and costumes in the historic center. The event is confirmed by municipal ordinance no. 15 of March 17, 2026, and by the diversion of bus line ATV 53 planned for the occasion. Along the route, stalls, food stands, and amusement rides accompany the celebration, which is part of the calendar of carnivals in the province of Verona.
During the parade, bus line ATV 53 is diverted, and some streets in the center are closed to traffic (municipal ordinance no. 15 of March 17, 2026).
Castel d'Azzano is located a few kilometers south of Verona. By car, take the A4 motorway, exit at Verona Sud, then head towards Castel d'Azzano. By bus, take line ATV 53 from Verona (on parade days, the route may be diverted due to the event). Verona Porta Nuova station is the main railway hub.
Free admission to the parade and festival areas. Food stands and stalls are for purchase. During the parade, some streets in the center are closed to traffic.
