The comic book and pop culture festival of lower Lazio
Cassino Fantastica is the comic book and new millennium culture festival that brings Cassino, in the province of Frosinone, southern Lazio, to life every year. Launched in October 2021, the event has quickly become the main pop culture gathering in lower Lazio, serving as a landmark for fans of comics, manga, anime, gaming, and cosplay from across the region and the nearby southern Ciociaria area.
The event takes place within the San Benedetto Institute, with its spaces divided into thematic zones: the Expo Area for exhibitors, the Fantastica Palace dedicated to the Artist Alley and authors, the Games Area for board and role-playing games, the Fantastica Lab for workshops, the Showcase Area with the main stage, and the essential Food Area.
The heart of Cassino Fantastica is a dense, multidisciplinary program. The stage hosts a rotation of cosplay competitions, karaoke contests, acoustic tributes to anime soundtracks and TV theme songs, as well as nerd quizzes focused on 1980s pop culture. Meanwhile, the conference room hosts author meet-and-greets, book presentations, talks on the comic book publishing industry, and short film screenings.
Beyond entertainment, Cassino Fantastica explores current trends, from artificial intelligence applied to artistic creativity to major pop culture milestones, such as the 50th anniversary of Goldrake or anniversaries of Italian cinema and comics. The event also adheres to the principles of the Cosplability movement, promoting the removal of barriers and inclusion in pop culture events.
For the Municipality of Cassino and the entire province of Frosinone, the event is a major draw for a young, passionate audience, blending a love for comics and video games with the discovery of a city rich in history, world-renowned for the Abbey of Montecassino.
