In the heart of San Lazzaro di Savena, a municipality on the eastern outskirts of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna, the Annalena Tonelli Social, Cultural, and Recreational Center hosts a neighborhood Carnival party open to everyone each year. It's not a large city parade, but an intimate and familiar local event, part of the widespread program with which the Municipality enlivens the area during the Carnival period.

An Afternoon in Costume for All Ages

The event takes place in the afternoon in the Center's spaces, at via Galletta 42, in the La Mura San Carlo neighborhood. The program revolves around the participants' masked parade, accompanied by music and dancing that engages both adults and children. The atmosphere is that of neighborhood parties, where the focus is not on spectacle but on togetherness: children in costume, confetti, games, and shared joy.

Sfrappole, the Traditional Dessert

The delicious moment cannot be missed: sfrappole, the typical thin fried dough pastries dusted with powdered sugar that have always accompanied Carnival in Emilia-Romagna (elsewhere called chiacchiere or frappe). Distributed to attendees, they are a sign of a popular tradition passed down through generations, which the Tonelli Center keeps alive.

A Center Serving the Community

The Annalena Tonelli Center is a social promotion association affiliated with ANCeSCAO, active year-round with dance classes, cooking workshops, children's activities, themed evenings, and social inclusion initiatives. The Carnival party is one of its most cherished events, built thanks to the work of volunteers and aimed at the entire citizenry.
