The great Carnival parade between Cuveglio and Cuvio
The Carnival in the Valley is the big Carnival celebration that unites Cuvio and Cuveglio, two municipalities in the Valcuvia, in the province of Varese. Instead of organizing two separate parades, the Pro Loco associations of the two towns join forces to create a single, large procession that crosses the territory: a choice that makes the event one of the most attended in the valley.
The heart of the celebration is the parade of allegorical floats — about fifteen — accompanied by masked groups, bands, and lots of music. The procession starts from the Valcuvia Shopping Center in Cuveglio and winds through the streets of the two towns, involving thousands of participants, young and old, in a riot of color and joy.
The celebration concludes at Parco Pancera in Cuvio, the true meeting point of the event. Here, participants are greeted by the music of the Filarmonica Cuviese, traditional Carnival sweets, wine, and local dishes like polenta and sausage offered by the Pro Loco associations. A convivial finale that warms even the coldest February days.
Carnival in the Valley is much more than a parade: it is a moment when the entire Valcuvia community comes together. The collaboration between Cuvio and Cuveglio testifies to the spirit of unity that characterizes this corner of the province of Varese, where popular festivals remain a strong social bond.
The 2026 edition of Carnival in the Valley enlivens the Valcuvia on Saturday, February 14. Cuvio and Cuveglio unite for the great valley parade: about fifteen allegorical floats and numerous masked groups cross the two towns, involving thousands of participants. Despite the weather not always being favorable, the celebration attracts a large audience along the route each year.
Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, traffic closures are expected on Via Aldo Moro and SP45 dir.1 to allow the procession to pass.
Cuvio and Cuveglio are located in Valcuvia, reachable from Varese along the SP45. The parade gathering point is at the Valcuvia Shopping Center in Cuveglio. During the parade, some roads (Via Aldo Moro, SP45 dir.1) are closed to traffic in the afternoon.
The parade takes place on the afternoon of a Carnival day (February). Free admission. In case of bad weather, it is advisable to check for any changes with the organizing Pro Loco associations.
