The Civitanova Marche Carnival between floats, masked groups, and music
Carnevalando is the Carnival event promoted by the City of Civitanova Marche, in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region. For one day, the city center transforms into a large open-air stage, where masked groups parade, shows and entertainment follow one another, and live music accompanies thousands of participants. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular masked festivals on the Marche Adriatic coast.
The heart of the event is Corso Umberto I, which together with Piazza XX Settembre and the city center hosts the masked procession. The registered groups, composed of schools, associations, parishes, neighborhoods, and spontaneous groups, liven up the parade with costumes, choreography, and great vivacity. The parade order is determined by the municipal service, taking into account logistics and the number of participants in each group.
The program alternates between fixed and itinerant performances, children's entertainment, face painting, and live music provided by bands and party bands that warm up the atmosphere along the route. In recent editions, the festival has been enriched with guests capable of attracting an intergenerational audience, with moments of great popular participation and a shower of confetti to close the day.
Carnevalando is a festival suitable for everyone: children, families, and groups will find a free and welcoming event, with special attention to the little ones. A second day, dedicated to children's carnival, is also set up in the village of Civitanova Alta, with entertainment, music, and face painting. Along the streets and squares, food stalls managed by local Pro Loco associations and civic organizations complete the offering with local flavors and specialties.
More than just a parade, Carnevalando is an event that involves the entire Civitanova community: schools, associations, and volunteers work together to create a festival that unites different generations and renews the Carnival tradition in the Municipality of Civitanova Marche every year.
