There is a place in Caravaggio, in the province of Bergamo, that tells the city's identity better than any other: the Viale del Santuario, the long tree-lined straight that connects the town centre to the basilica of Santa Maria del Fonte. It is here that, on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Apparition, Caravaggio in Festa - A Cena sul Viale takes place, a large open-air convivial dinner.

Everyone at the table together

The idea is simple and beautiful: to transform the avenue into a very long table where the people of Caravaggio gather to dine next to each other. Families, neighbours, friends: everyone is invited to participate in this moment of conviviality that makes the community the true protagonist of the evening, starting from 7:00 PM.

In the sign of the Apparition

The event is closely linked to the Solemnity of the Apparition on May 26th, the anniversary of the Virgin's appearance to the young Giannetta. The dinner on the avenue represents the popular and festive dimension of a recurrence that primarily has a deep religious significance: the sacred and the convivial intertwine in a single great city festival.

A festival for everyone

Promoted by the Municipality of Caravaggio in collaboration with local associations and organisations, A Cena sul Viale is a free event open to all citizens. It is one of those moments that strengthen the sense of belonging, transforming a symbolic place in the city into a space for shared celebration in the Bassa Bergamasca.
