About Canove Fish Festival

In the hamlet of Canove, in Legnago, the ancient Fish Festival brings the best of seafood to the table: seafood risotto, spaghetti with clams, mixed fried fish, grilled fish, and cod, served at the sports field for two weekends in May. With a food stand, a youth area with a DJ, and the traditional lottery, it is one of the most beloved festivals in the Basso Veronese, with a history born from a vow to the Madonna.

The ancient fish festival

The Canove Fish Festival takes place in the hamlet of the same name in Legnago, in the Basso Veronese area, at the sports field. The festival has its roots in an ancient vow to the Madonna, made after a devastating flood that spared only a few newly built houses: according to tradition, the name of the place also derives from this event.

Seafood flavors

The absolute star is fish cuisine: the food stand offers seafood risotto, spaghetti with clams, mixed fried fish, grilled fish, cod, and seafood salad. Service is in the evening, opening at 7:30 PM, and on Sundays also at lunchtime (12:00 PM-3:00 PM). Accompanying the dinners are musical evenings and the youth area with a DJ.

A village festival

Organized by the Sant'Agostino Festival Committee of Canove, in collaboration with Avis Canove and the Pro Loco of Legnago, the festival also includes the arrival of the Vespa Club of Legnago, the blessing of agricultural machinery, and the drawing of the traditional lottery. Free admission every evening, in the heart of the hamlet of Canove (Municipality of Legnago, province of Verona).
