A festival with ancient roots
The Candlemas Festival in Casalserugo, in the province of Padua, has its roots in popular devotion: the town's parish church is dedicated to the Purification of the Virgin Mary, a feast day that the liturgy celebrates on February 2nd, Candlemas Day. Over time, a deeply felt village event has been built around this religious festivity, capable of uniting the spiritual and convivial dimensions.

The heart of the festival is the Tendopalazzetto on Via Colombo, in the sports complex area, where the food stand is set up with Venetian cuisine specialties – starting with the traditional boiled meats – accompanied by themed evenings, live music, and ballroom dancing. A formula that attracts families and visitors from neighboring towns for several consecutive evenings.
Between devotion and community
Alongside the gastronomic events, the festival maintains its link with religious tradition: the blessing of the candles and the solemn Mass on February 2nd mark the most anticipated moment. The event is organized by the Committee for Culture and Sport together with the Parish of Casalserugo and the Municipal Administration, with the valuable work of the village volunteers.
Candlemas Festival — edition 2026
The twelfth edition of the Candlemas Festival in Casalserugo runs from January 30th to February 2nd, 2026, at the Tendopalazzetto on Via Colombo. For four days, the village comes together around the food stand offering traditional Venetian specialties – particularly boiled meats – and evenings filled with music and dancing. On February 2nd, the blessing of the candles and the solemn Mass celebrating the Purification of the Virgin Mary, to whom the parish church is dedicated, will be renewed.

The festival spans four days, from January 30th to February 2nd, 2026, with the food stand opening in the evenings, musical and dancing nights, and the liturgical celebration of Candlemas on February 2nd.
Based on previous editions, the typical structure includes:
- Evening opening of the food stand (Venetian specialties, boiled meats)
- Dancing nights with orchestras and live music
- February 2nd — blessing of the candles and solemn Mass of the Purification of Mary, market of local products
