The amateur talent show in the heart of Camporotondo Etneo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Camporrida is the local, lighthearted take on the famous Corrida, the historic Italian television program for "amateur performers" created by Corrado. In Camporotondo Etneo, a small town of just over five thousand inhabitants nestled at the foot of Mount Etna in the Metropolitan City of Catania, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most beloved summer highlights. The subtitle of the first edition, "cu nesci arrinesci" (whoever goes out, succeeds), perfectly captures the spirit of the event: anyone with the courage to step onto the stage can try their luck and win over the crowd.
Amateur contestants take to the stage to showcase a wide variety of talents: singing, comedy, poetry, acting, and variety acts. While a jury of local figures determines the winners, the true star of the show remains the audience, who participate actively with applause, whistles, and traditional cowbellsโthe iconic "distraction" instruments that have always defined the Corrida format. The evenings are long and exhilarating, often lasting nearly four hours well past midnight, filled with laughter, emotion, and moments of genuine talent.
Camporrida is strongly supported and organized by the municipal administration of Camporotondo Etneo, led by Mayor Filippo Rapisarda. Launched in 2024, the event has already seen two highly successful editions, and the administration has expressed its commitment to continuing it in the years to come, turning it into a classic of the Etna summer. It is a community celebration that fosters social connection, highlights local talent, and fills the town's central square with people and joy.
The first edition took place on July 21, 2024, in the town's main square, with Piera Longo taking the win. The second edition, held on July 20, 2025, saw Elisa Fleres triumph over fourteen other contestants. Dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced, though the event is traditionally held in July.
The dates for the 2026 edition of Camporrida have not yet been announced. Following the success of the first two editions (2024 and 2025), the municipal administration of Camporotondo Etneo has expressed its intention to bring back the event, which is traditionally held in July in the town's central square.
As in previous years, we expect an evening of entertainment with amateur contestants performing songs, comedy sketches, poetry, and variety acts, a jury of local faces, and an audience taking center stage with applause, whistles, and cowbells. The detailed program and the list of participants will be communicated by the Municipality and on their official social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
