Masks, music, and merriment in Italy's longest-living village
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Campodimele Carnival is the most colorful festival of the year for this small village perched at an altitude of over 600 meters, within the Aurunci Mountains Natural Park in the province of Latina. Every year, between late February and early March, Piazza Municipio transforms into a lively stage for masks, music, and merriment, where the community gathers to enjoy a morning of pure fun together.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Campodimele in collaboration with the Municipality, the Carnival is specifically designed for the little ones. The program includes games, entertainment, shows, and many surprises, with everyone encouraged to wear a costume to add even more color to the square. There is no shortage of music and the joyful atmosphere that makes the festival a highly anticipated event for both young and old.
Campodimele is no ordinary town: surrounded by ancient medieval polygonal walls, it has joined the club of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and has been awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club. It is known worldwide as one of the longest-living villages, thanks to its pure air, pristine nature, and a simple, genuine lifestyle. The Carnival brings a breath of lightheartedness to this evocative setting, strengthening the sense of belonging and the festive spirit among citizens and visitors alike.
Located in southern Lazio, between the Aurunci Mountains and not far from the Gulf of Gaeta, Campodimele is the ideal destination for those who want to discover an authentic Italy far from the major tourist flows. Experiencing the Carnival in this context means combining the fun of the festival with the beauty of a village rich in history, folk traditions, and breathtaking landscapes. A perfect trip for families looking for a day of joy and conviviality.
For the 2026 edition of the Campodimele Carnival, the official program has not yet been published, nor has the date been confirmed. Following the tradition of previous years, the festival is expected to enliven Piazza Municipio with games, entertainment, shows, and masquerades for children and families, with free admission. For updated information, it is advisable to follow the channels of the Pro Loco of Campodimele and the Municipality.
