About Cammino dell'Incoronata

The Cammino dell'Incoronata is a new walking route that connects Molise to Puglia, following the ancient tratturi of transhumance, up to the Sanctuary of the Incoronata in Foggia. The stage that includes Duronia, in the province of Campobasso, covers fourteen kilometers of nature trails along the Regio Tratturo Castel di Sangro–Lucera, from Frosolone to Duronia, passing through Cerasito. An experience of slow walking through villages, rural churches, local product tastings, and the hospitality of the Molise communities.

A Walk Between Molise and Puglia

The Cammino dell'Incoronata is a hiking and pilgrimage route that connects Molise to Puglia, retracing the ancient tratturi of transhumance to the Sanctuary of the Incoronata. It is a project for the slow enhancement of the territory, which networks villages, trails, and communities along the Regio Tratturo Castel di Sangro–Lucera.

The Duronia Stage

Among the stages of the walk is the one that reaches Duronia, a small village in the province of Campobasso. The route starts from Frosolone, passes through the hamlet of Cerasito, and arrives in Duronia, for a total of about fourteen kilometers of dirt and paved sections, with hiking difficulty (classification E).

Walking, Nature, and Hospitality

Along the route, walkers encounter places of faith and history—from the hermitage of Sant'Egidio Abate in Frosolone to the church of Santa Maria del Perpetuo Soccorso in Cerasito—with moments of tasting local products and stories about the history of the sanctuary. Upon arrival in Duronia, participants are welcomed by the community with the final stamping of the walking passport.
