The art of the Brera Academy dialogues with the Castle
Caleidoscopio – Contaminazioni is the exhibition project that brings contemporary art to the Visconti Castle of Legnano, one of the symbolic monuments of the city in the Province of Milan. Now in its fourth edition in 2026, it fosters a dialogue between the works of students from the Painting and Graphic Arts School of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and the spaces and history of the manor.
The protagonists of the exhibition are seventy students, joined by eight participants from the Erasmus program. Their works span painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, and installations, many of which are conceived as site-specific interventions, designed in direct relation to the spaces that host them and their cultural heritage.
The core of the project is the contamination between the languages of contemporary art and the historical identity of the places. Coordinated by the Academy's professors, the students conduct research that explores the historical significance of the Castle of Legnano and, in the second phase, the Butti Museum in Viggiù, creating a bridge between current artistic practice and the memory of the territory.
The exhibition is spread across two venues and two periods: in Legnano, at the Visconti Castle, from May 30 to June 21, 2026; in Viggiù, at the Butti Museum, from June 14 to August 31. The project is sponsored by the Municipalities of Legnano and Viggiù along with the Brera Academy, and represents a valuable opportunity to discover the talent of the new artistic generations in the Lombardy Region.
