The summer solstice in music across the squares, cloisters, and villages of the Fermo area
For a few days, around the summer solstice, Montegiorgio — a hilltop village in the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region — dresses itself in notes. The Music Festival is not a concert in a single venue, but a widespread diffusion of performances that invades the historic center, cloisters, small squares, and even the hamlets: from the Cloister of Sant'Agostino to the Pincio, from the 14th-century Arch to Cerreto and Alteta, every corner of the town can become a stage.
The event is part of the large Music Festival network, born in France in 1982 and celebrated throughout Italy since 2016 under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture. The spirit remains the same: free music, open to everyone, in unconventional places like streets, gardens, and courtyards. In Montegiorgio, the event has a unique characteristic that makes it special in the area: concerts can continue non-stop until dawn, offering the magical moment of a musical awakening amidst the hills of the Fermo region.
The programming is very diverse: it ranges from rock to Italian and foreign pop repertoire, from film soundtracks to baroque music, up to the great hits of the seventies and eighties. Choirs, bands, folk groups, and young ensembles take turns on the widespread stages, totaling over a hundred artists, including musicians, singers, and collaborators, in recent editions.
The Music Festival is much more than a summer program: it is a sign of Montegiorgio's deep musical vocation, which for years has nurtured the ambition to become a true "music town." For several editions, the Municipality has entrusted the organization to the "Alaleona" Band, which works to enhance the places, traditions, and melodies that characterize this corner of the Marche, uniting associations, schools, and citizens in one great community celebration.
The sixth edition of the Montegiorgio Music Festival will take place from Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 21, 2026, coinciding with the summer solstice. This year again, the organization is entrusted to the "Domenico Alaleona" Music Band APS, which has been curating this now iconic event for the Fermo village for several seasons on behalf of the Municipality.
Among the announced events is the main concert on Sunday, June 21, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, designed to showcase the local places, traditions, and melodies. The festival maintains its formula: free, widespread performances in the historic center and hamlets, open to both professional musicians and amateurs.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the full list of concerts, artists, and venues, will be published by the organization in the weeks leading up to the event.
The complete schedule of concerts spread across the squares, cloisters, and hamlets of Montegiorgio, with times and performers, will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the festival. As per tradition, the performances will span multiple genres (band, choir, folk, pop, classical) and admission will be free.
Montegiorgio is located in the hinterland of the Province of Fermo. By car, it can be reached from the A14 motorway, exiting at Porto San Giorgio-Fermo, and continuing inland along the SP towards Montegiorgio. The nearest train station is Porto San Giorgio-Fermo, on the Adriatic line, connected to the village by bus services.
Admission to all performances is free, in line with the national spirit of the Music Festival.
The events take place in various locations in the historic center and hamlets: it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes to move between the different stages and bring a light jacket for the evening and night hours.
