The floriculture and green culture exhibition and market in the Villa Comunale of Benevento
Every spring, the Villa Comunale of Benevento changes its look and becomes the heart of Benevento in Fiore, the exhibition-market dedicated to floriculture, botany, outdoor furniture, artistic crafts, and local specialties. For three days, the paths of the historic city park host nurserymen, artisans, and producers: an open-air journey through rare plants, botanical collections, flowers, gardening equipment, and creations inspired by the plant world. The initiative is promoted by the Sannitamania APS association with the patronage of the Municipality of Benevento and the Campania Region.
The event brings together about 70 exhibitors from all regions of Central and Southern Italy, with a growing presence of nationally significant operators. Alongside specialized nurserymen, there is space for artisans, environmental associations, and local agricultural companies. The 2026 edition saw the addition of new exhibitors from Basilicata and Lazio, a sign of a fair that has expanded its reach well beyond the borders of the Sannio region.
One of the most appreciated aspects is the educational side. The stands dedicated to bonsai allow visitors to learn about the cultivation techniques of these ornamental plants, while workshops on succulents—the so-called "stone plants"—show how easy it is to care for them even in an apartment. The carnivorous plants section, curated with the Italian Carnivorous Plant Association, is also very popular: visitors can observe North American and Australian species now adapted to the local climate, with the Venus flytrap remaining the most photographed by visitors.
Benevento in Fiore is not just a plant market. The program includes creative workshops for adults and children, practical advice on plant care, technical seminars—from pruning to urban green management—and guided botanical tours to discover the rare trees that characterize the Villa Comunale itself, one of the most beautiful historic gardens in the city. Over the years, meetings on environmental sustainability, pottery and decoration workshops, and musical and cultural moments have been added to enliven the paths until evening.
The refreshment area is managed by Coldiretti Benevento, a historic partner of the event, with a street food selection linked to local traditions. It is the perfect opportunity to combine the discovery of greenery with that of Sannio cuisine, in a province that thrives on agriculture and gives its name to great wines such as Aglianico del Taburno and Falanghina del Sannio.
Born as a local initiative, Benevento in Fiore has carved out a leading role in the sector's fair calendar: in 2026, it reached its ninth edition, with a constantly growing audience and the participation of nurserymen, artisans, enthusiasts, and curious visitors from all over Italy. For the municipal administration, the fair has also become a tourist and economic driver, capable of bringing visitors from outside the region to the city during a weekend in May. The Campania Region, through the Department of Agriculture, has supported the latest editions, highlighting the quality of the floriculture supply chain—a sector in which the Campania region excels.
Those who come to Benevento in Fiore will find a free-entry event, suitable for families, in a shaded park a few steps from the Rocca dei Rettori and the historic center. It is the perfect occasion to combine the purchase of plants and flowers with a walk among the Roman and Lombard monuments of the Municipality of Benevento: from the Arch of Trajan to the Roman Theatre, up to the Santa Sofia complex, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The evening hours, with the paths of the Villa illuminated, are the most evocative for a leisurely visit.
The 2026 edition of Benevento in Fiore, the ninth of the event, took place from May 8th to 10th, 2026 in the Villa Comunale of Benevento, with setup starting on May 6th and dismantling completed on the 11th. The official presentation was held on May 7th at Palazzo Mosti, the seat of the Municipality.
Promoted by the Sannitamania association with the patronage of the Campania Region and the Municipality of Benevento, the fair brought together about 70 exhibitors from Central and Southern Italy, with new arrivals from Basilicata and Lazio. The paths of the historic park were transformed into an open-air exhibition garden dedicated to botany, floriculture, garden furniture, artistic crafts, and local products, with an entrance set up as the gateway to the event.
The thematic sections were very popular: the bonsai stands, the workshops on succulents ("stone plants"), and the carnivorous plants space curated by Luciano Ungaro, delegate of the Italian Carnivorous Plant Association for Basilicata, featuring North American and Australian species with the Venus flytrap as the star. The refreshment area was entrusted to Coldiretti Benevento, a partner of the event since the first edition, with street food inspired by Sannio traditions.
Press presentation on May 7th, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Palazzo Mosti, with organizer Antonio De Cristofaro (Sannitamania), Coldiretti Benevento president Gennaro Masiello, and municipal councilor Luigi Ambrosone.
