About Be Green Film Festival

The Be Green Film Festival is the film event held in Crispiano, in the province of Taranto, dedicated to cinema that explores sustainable development and the values of the 2030 Agenda. Established in 2022 and directed by Gaetano Colella and Andrea Simonetti for the Armamaxa association in partnership with the Municipality of Crispiano, it features animation and fiction short film competitions, masterclasses, meetings with authors and actors, and workshops. The heart of the project is the direct involvement of local youth, who are the protagonists of every stage of the event.

Cinema that tells the story of sustainability

The Be Green Film Festival is the film event that brings Crispiano, in the province of Taranto, Apulia, to life every autumn. Founded in 2022 under the creative direction of screenwriters and actors Gaetano Colella and Andrea Simonetti, it is promoted by the Armamaxa association in collaboration with the Municipality of Crispiano and the Arci "Mariella Leo" Circle. Through the art of cinema, the festival promotes a culture of sustainable development and the values of the 2030 Agenda: the environment, the fight against inequality, coexistence, and the future of new generations.

Competitions, masterclasses, and meetings

The core of the event is the dual short film competition, one dedicated to animation and one to fiction, featuring works selected from all over the world. Alongside the screenings, the program offers masterclasses with directors and actors, meetings with authors, talks, and workshops open to the public. A jury of film professionals awards the main prizes, supported by juries composed of local students who choose the best animation and fiction shorts.

Young protagonists: the Be Green Factory

The festival's most distinctive feature is the direct involvement of young people. Through the Be Green Factory, dozens of teenagers aged 13 to 20 work for months on every phase of the event: from selecting short films to welcoming guests, from communication to technical aspects, and even creating the awards. The festival thus becomes a true laboratory of citizenship and visual education, where the community grows alongside the project.

Crispiano and the Ionian territory

It is no coincidence that the festival was born in Crispiano, in the heart of one of the provinces most affected by environmental issues. Here, the "green" message finds concrete roots, transforming cinema into a tool for awareness and dialogue. Screenings are held at the municipal cinema-theater, which for three days becomes a meeting point for authors, schools, families, and enthusiasts.

An autumn appointment

With its screening evenings, national guests, and participatory atmosphere, the Be Green Film Festival has established itself in just a few editions as one of the most vibrant cultural realities in the province of Taranto, capable of combining artistic quality, civic engagement, and youth leadership.

Be Green Film Festival — edition 2026

The new edition of the Be Green Film Festival is expected in Crispiano in autumn 2026. Official dates and the program have not yet been announced by the organization: in previous editions, the festival was held in mid-November at the municipal cinema-theater. As per tradition, the event is expected to feature animation and fiction short film competitions, masterclasses, and meetings, with the young people of the Be Green Factory once again at the heart of the entire process.

Towards the next edition

The 2026 edition of the Be Green Film Festival in Crispiano, in the province of Taranto, does not yet have official dates. The organization, managed by the Armamaxa association with the Municipality of Crispiano, has not yet released the calendar or the final call for entries. In previous years, the festival took place in mid-November at the municipal cinema-theater, featuring the two short film competitions, masterclasses, and meetings. This page will be updated as soon as the dates and program are announced.
