The BBQ Festival is the major international gastronomic event dedicated to barbecue, held in Peschiera del Garda, in the province of Verona, within the evocative setting of Forte Papa, an ancient Venetian fortification overlooking the lake. For four days, the festival celebrates authentic American barbecue culture, featuring quality meats slow-cooked and smoked according to overseas techniques.

The heart of the event is "The War of Barbeque", an international competition governed by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to barbecue, which oversees over 500 contests annually. International pitmasters compete in Peschiera in a showdown that combines experience, creativity, and teamwork.
