About Plan de Corones World Cup

Every winter, the Erta slope at Plan de Corones (Kronplatz), above San Vigilio di Marebbe, hosts one of the most anticipated stages of the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup: the Audi FIS Giant Slalom. A steep and technical wall, among the most demanding on the international circuit, it tests the world's best giant slalom skiers in front of thousands of fans. In the municipality of Marebbe/Enneberg, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, top-tier sport, Dolomite atmosphere, and local festivities blend into a day of spectacular action.

The Ski World Cup on the Erta slope in Plan de Corones

Above San Vigilio di Marebbe, in the municipality of Marebbe/Enneberg (Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol), the Erta slope of the Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) ski area has firmly established itself in the legend of alpine skiing. Every January, it hosts the Audi FIS Women's Giant Slalom World Cup, a stage that experts consider one of the most selective on the entire circuit: a steep, undulating, and technical track that forgives very few mistakes and offers pure sporting spectacle.

A technical wall that made history

The Erta hosted European Cup races for seventeen years before joining the top international circuit in 2017. Since then, it has become a permanent fixture on the women's calendar, capable of crowning the greatest giant slalom skiers of their era. The roll of honor speaks for itself: Mikaela Shiffrin leads the standings with three victories, ahead of champions such as Federica Brignone, Viktoria Rebensburg, Tessa Worley, Sara Hector, Lara Gut-Behrami, and Alice Robinson.

More than just a race: the valley festival

The South Tyrolean stage is much more than just a race. In the days leading up to the giant slalom, the area comes alive with concerts, torchlight processions, and laser shows, while the spectacular public bib draw takes place in Brunico/Bruneck. On race day, the finish area in the valley becomes a huge party with live music, the awards ceremony, and the warm cheers of the Dolomite crowd. The event is organized by Al Plan Events, chaired by Danny Kastlunger.

An event in the heart of the Dolomites

Immersed in the landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, the Plan de Corones World Cup combines top-level competition with the charm of the South Tyrolean mountains. For the public, it is an opportunity to see the stars of the "White Circus" up close in a unique setting, in one of the most renowned ski resorts in South Tyrol.

Plan de Corones World Cup — edition 2026

On January 20, 2026, the Erta slope in Plan de Corones celebrated ten years of the Women's World Cup with a spectacular giant slalom. The Austrian Julia Scheib triumphed, ahead of Switzerland's Camille Rast and Sweden's Sara Hector. Great excitement for the return of Federica Brignone, who finished sixth after a gutsy performance on the difficult South Tyrolean wall.

The tenth anniversary on the Erta: Julia Scheib wins

The January 20, 2026 edition celebrated ten years of the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup in Plan de Corones. For the occasion, the giant slalom track was made even more demanding, with the starting gate moved higher up and additional gates added to both runs.
