The Attraverso Festival stops at Belvedere Marconi, featuring theatre, literature, and memory in the hills of Monferrato
In the town of Rocca Grimalda, a village in the Alto Monferrato area of the Alessandria province, Attraverso Festival returns to bring high-quality live culture to the summer of 2026. The stage is one of the most evocative of the entire festival: the Belvedere Marconi, a panoramic terrace overlooking the vineyards of the Piedmontese hills, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here, as every year, the festival transforms an intimate village space into an open-air theatre.
The 2026 program in Rocca Grimalda features two events, both starting at 9:00 PM. The first, on Thursday, July 16th, stars Paolo Ruffini with the monologue-recital "Presente," an ironic and personal reflection on time and contemporary life. The second, on Tuesday, July 28th, brings writer Alessandro Perissinotto to the Belvedere with "Rammendare la memoria. La guerra dei Traversa," an intense literary monologue that weaves 20th-century history with family memory.
One of the most well-known actors, comedians, and presenters on the Italian scene, Paolo Ruffini debuts at Attraverso Festival with a show that blends lightness and depth. "Presente" is an invitation to live in the moment, to rediscover the value of being here and now, told with the ironic and direct style that is the trademark of the artist from Livorno.
Writer and university professor Alessandro Perissinotto writes and performs a monologue that spans a hundred years of family history during the Fascist era. Starting from the "December 18th massacre" of 1922 in Turin, the story follows the fate of the Traversa family, torn apart between Fascists and anti-Fascists, in a reflection on collective amnesia that speaks to the present. A text that perfectly embodies the guiding theme of the 2026 edition, #pop: culture made accessible to everyone without sacrificing depth.
The evenings in Rocca Grimalda are two of over forty stops in the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival, the event that runs from July 13th to September 18th, 2026, enlivening nearly thirty towns across the Langhe, Roero, Monferrato, and Piedmontese Apennines, in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo. Artistically directed by Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico and organized by Hiroshima Mon Amour and Produzioni Fuorivia, the festival weaves together theatre, music, literature, philosophy, and popular science in a single great cultural journey through the hills of Piedmont.
The 2026 edition of Attraverso Festival — the 11th — takes place from July 13th to September 18th across the Langhe, Roero, Monferrato, and Piedmontese Apennines, with the guiding theme #pop. In Rocca Grimalda, on the terrace of Belvedere Marconi, the festival offers two events: on July 16th, the monologue-recital "Presente" by Paolo Ruffini, and on July 28th, the literary show "La guerra dei Traversa" by Alessandro Perissinotto. Two evenings with different tones — the light irony of Ruffini and the historical intensity of Perissinotto — united by the power of live performance.
Both events are part of the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival, spread across nearly thirty towns in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo.
The double appearance in Rocca Grimalda of Paolo Ruffini, debuting at the festival with "Presente", and writer Alessandro Perissinotto with his historical-literary monologue "La guerra dei Traversa", during two open-air evenings on the panoramic terrace of Belvedere Marconi.
Rocca Grimalda is located in the Alto Monferrato, a few kilometres from Ovada and Novi Ligure. By car, it can be reached from the A26 motorway (Ovada exit) by following signs for the town centre; the shows are held at Belvedere Marconi, the panoramic terrace in the heart of the village.
Both evenings start at 9:00 PM. Tickets for Paolo Ruffini (July 16th) cost €27, while those for Alessandro Perissinotto (July 28th) are €8. Presale is available online via the Mailticket platform and on the official Attraverso Festival website.
As these are outdoor evening events in the hills, it is advisable to bring a light jacket. It is worth arriving a little early to enjoy the view from the Belvedere at sunset. We recommend always checking the updated dates, times, and venue on the festival website before setting off.
