The Piazzetta degli Artisti in Atripalda transforms into an open-air showcase for Irpinian craftsmanship
In Atripalda, in the Province of Avellino, the Piazzetta degli Artisti transforms for a full day into a lively open-air exhibition space: this is ArtigianE Fair, an event dedicated to creativity and the promotion of local craftsmanship. The public space becomes a center for displaying and promoting artisanal creations, involving local artists and craftspeople with the goal of showcasing the production and skills that Irpinia has to offer.
The name of the initiative plays on the capital 'E': the protagonists are six female artisans ready to share and present their creations to the public, blending craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation. This is not just a simple display of stalls: each station is an opportunity for direct dialogue with the makers, to understand the materials chosen, the techniques employed, and the actual production times. It is the most effective way to restore value to knowledge that might otherwise remain invisible behind a shop window.
The day is enriched by creative workshops aimed at all ages, divided into two distinct sessions:
The workshop is not just a side activity, but the pedagogical heart of the event: those who try, even for just an hour, to work a material with their own hands understand much faster why a handcrafted object has a different value compared to an industrial product.
The Piazzetta degli Artisti is one of the public spaces in Atripalda, next to Piazza Garibaldi, and is by its nature open for free use by citizens. Throughout the year, it hosts other cultural initiatives, from open-air art collectives to musical and theatrical events of the summer season, up to the setups that accompany the great festivals of the Atripalda historic center. This continuity has consolidated the artistic vocation of the place, which ArtigianE Fair interprets in the direction of the handmade.
Atripalda is a municipality in Campania located in the heart of Irpinia, the inland area of the Province of Avellino. It is a territory where micro-enterprises and art trades have historically represented an important piece of the local economy, often family-run. An event like this, hosted in a square in the Municipality of Atripalda, therefore has a meaning that goes beyond the day of celebration: it connects those who produce and those who buy, makes a short supply chain visible, and creates a network between creative entities that work, the rest of the year, each in their own workshop.
For the event on Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Piazzetta degli Artisti in Atripalda became a center for the exhibition and promotion of artisanal creations, involving local artists and craftspeople with the goal of enhancing Irpinian production and skills.
Six artisans took turns in the square, ready to tell their stories and present their creations to the public: a journey that combined craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation, with the possibility of speaking directly with those who make the objects.
The day was enriched by creative workshops aimed at all ages: in the morning, from 10 am to 1 pm, activities were reserved for children aged 5 to 9 with mandatory booking; in the afternoon, from 4 pm to 6 pm, it was the adults' turn. An approach designed to combine social connection, the culture of handmade goods, and active participation, offering the Atripalda community an opportunity to meet and share in the name of beauty and artistic expression.
The event takes place outdoors, in the public space of the Piazzetta degli Artisti, in the center of Atripalda.
Piazzetta degli Artisti, in the historic center of Atripalda (83042), Province of Avellino, Campania. The square is located next to Piazza Garibaldi and is easily reachable on foot from the entire center.
By car, Atripalda is well connected to the Irpinian capital and the main road network of the Sabato Valley; it is advisable to leave the vehicle in the parking areas just outside the historic center and continue on foot, as the central streets may be subject to restrictions during events. Those arriving by bus can use the suburban lines that connect Atripalda to Avellino.
The exhibition takes place in an open-air public space and is free to visit, without ticketed routes. For the creative workshops dedicated to children aged 5 to 9, booking is mandatory: it is advisable to contact the organizers a few days in advance. Workshops for adults are held in the afternoon.
Being an outdoor event, check the weather forecast for the day and dress in layers: in March, in Irpinia, temperatures can still be chilly. Bring some cash with you: not all artisanal stations necessarily have card payment facilities.
