Art enters the home: Giancarlo Ercoli's sculptures meet Gabriella Cinti's verses
In Jesi, in the heart of the Marche region, contemporary art leaves museums and galleries to return to a more intimate space: the home. This is the radical and simple idea behind the Arte Domiciliata project, conceived by Jesi architect and sculptor Giancarlo Ercoli, who opens his house-studio at Via Mura Orientali 4, in the historic center of Jesi, to host exhibitions, meetings, and dialogues between artworks and visitors. The "Threads of Interiority" stop is one of the events in the project's 2026 calendar.
The core of the exhibition is the encounter between Giancarlo Ercoli's plastic and visual research and the poetic word of Gabriella Cinti. The artist's sculptures, made from materials such as metal wires, gauze, papers, and photographic fragments, translate themes like absence, desire, and memory into plastic form. The works resonate with verses from Gabriella Cinti's collection Prima, creating an intimate correspondence between the two expressive forms.
Among the titles of the exhibited works are Il luogo della verità (The Place of Truth), Mi sei apparsa (You Appeared to Me), La strada di dentro (The Road Within), Primavera di Persefone (Persephone's Spring), Bramito di luce (Roar of Light), L'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle (The Love That Moves the Sun and Other Stars), and Resurrezione minore (Minor Resurrection): a journey that invites viewers to look closely at the artwork, in direct relation to creation, word, memory, and gaze.
The project stems from a precise idea: to remove the artwork from the neutrality of conventional exhibition spaces and return it to a closer, more intimate, and relational dimension. The artist's house-studio thus becomes not just a container, but a living environment, a place for meeting, listening, and exchange where art can be approached without distance. It's a model that Ercoli adapted from Northern European practices and which has found its own form in Jesi.
The origins of Arte Domiciliata date back to 2019, when Ercoli held the first solo exhibitions in his own home, later launching the "Domus Ercoli" initiative. After a pause imposed by the pandemic, the project resumed and has consolidated as one of the most original proposals in Jesi's cultural scene, capable of bringing contemporary art directly within the walls of a historic downtown home in the Marche region.
The exhibition is accompanied by critical texts by Andrea Carnevali and Fabio Sebastiani, with an introductory note by Gianfranco Ercoli and a institutional greeting from the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Jesi. Admission is free on all open days.
The 2026 edition of Arte Domiciliata presents the exhibition "Threads of Interiority" in Jesi, which brings together the sculptures of Giancarlo Ercoli and the verses of Gabriella Cinti. The opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at 5:30 PM in the artist's house-studio, at Via Mura Orientali 4. The exhibition will be open on June 6, 7, 13, and 14, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with free admission. The works — created with metal wires, gauze, papers, and photographic fragments — explore themes of absence, desire, and memory in resonance with poetry.
