Armonie delle Differenze

An event that turns inclusion into a celebration

Armonie delle Differenze is an event dedicated to bringing together people of different generations and backgrounds through music, play, and sharing. It takes place in Palombara Sabina, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Rome, in the heart of the Roman Sabina, at Via Spunticchia 28, in the spaces hosting the day center of the organizing association. The underlying idea is both simple and ambitious: difference is not an obstacle to be tolerated, but a catalyst for meeting and collective growth.

Who organizes it

The initiative is promoted by the Associazione di Solidarietà Raffaella D'Angelo APS, a historic local organization born in Palombara Sabina from the commitment of families of people with disabilities and volunteers. For decades, it has managed the training and socialization day center named after Raffaella D'Angelo in agreement with the municipality. The organization is carried out in collaboration with the Concentus School of Music and Painting and the Atlantide Humanist Association. It is a grassroots event where local associations pool their skills, spaces, and volunteers.

Music as a common language

The common thread is live music: students from the Concentus school take the stage, in a format that promotes young local musicians rather than focusing on external names. Alongside the concerts, there is space for painting and visual arts—disciplines also taught by the school—which complete the multidisciplinary nature of the two-day event.

The Museum of Nonviolence

Among the most distinctive features is the Museum of Nonviolence, set up together with the Atlantide Humanist Association and open for visits during the event. It is a traveling exhibition that recounts experiences and figures of nonviolence, designed to be accessible even to younger visitors: a moment of reflection that fits naturally into a festival dedicated to dialogue.

Games, workshops, and conviviality

The second day is dedicated to Una giornata diversa (A Different Day), an afternoon of participatory activities and games open to all ages, where children, teenagers, adults, and guests of the center share the same space without distinctions. The evening concludes with a storytelling performance. On both days, food stalls managed by volunteers are active—a classic meeting point for local festivals in the Lazio region and an opportunity to support the association's activities.

Palombara Sabina and its surroundings

Palombara Sabina is located just over thirty kilometers from Rome, at the foot of the Lucretili Mountains, dominated by the Castello Savelli which encloses the historic village at the top. It is a town in the Sabina region known for its extra virgin olive oil, its proximity to the Abbey of San Giovanni in Argentella, and a summer calendar rich in food festivals and neighborhood celebrations. Armonie delle Differenze fits into this fabric with its own identity: not a gastronomic festival nor a music festival in the strict sense, but a social event that uses the tools of a village fair to talk about accessibility, disability, and participation.

Visitors from out of town will find, beyond the evening, a Sabina village to explore at sunset.
