A project born from Roma Creativa 365

The initiative is part of the proposals selected by the «Roma Creativa 365. Culture all year round» public call, the biennial measure through which Rome Capital, via Zètema Progetto Cultura, has allocated over 8.5 million euros to spread cultural offerings across the city, beyond the canonical months of the 'Estate Romana'. Section 1, Subsection 1B of the call is specifically dedicated to the opening of free neighborhood cinema arenas: the call sets the operating periods from July 1st to October 15th for 2025, and from June 1st to October 15th for 2026.

The proposing entity is the L'Esacordo Music School Cultural Association, a group rooted in the city's northwest quadrant and active for years in music education and the organization of concerts, recitals, and public evenings. This background explains the project's cross-disciplinary vocation, where the open-air venue is not just a screen, but a local cultural hub.

What to expect from an evening

Roman neighborhood arenas follow a well-tested formula: a screen set up in a public space or green area, seating arranged for the occasion, a single prime-time screening, and free admission until seats are filled. Screenings are often accompanied by presentations, meetings with authors and actors, and refreshment points managed by local businesses. It is a model that has multiplied the number of Roman arenas in recent years, bringing them to dozens of screens distributed from the center to the suburbs.
