The giant kite festival on the Fermo Riviera
Aquiloniamo - Festa degli Aquiloni Giganti is a free outdoor event held in the Municipality of Porto Sant'Elpidio, on the Adriatic coast of the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region. Born in 2025, the festival brings large colorful kites to the beach and sky of the seafront, flown by groups of kite enthusiasts from different parts of Italy. The simple and poetic spectacle captivates, especially the little ones, who stroll on the sand with their noses up at the figures suspended in the wind.
Three days between sky, sea, and creativity
The event spans three days, coinciding with the June 2nd long weekend. The first day is dedicated to the "Mercatino a Colori" (Colorful Market), set up on the central seafront: an artisan market featuring creative sewing, costume jewelry, handmade items, curiosities, and selected products. On the following two days, the giant kites take center stage, with beach exhibitions animating the coastline throughout the day.

An event for families
Aquiloniamo is designed as an event for families, children, tourists, and visitors: a mix of spectacle, creativity, market, gastronomy, and outdoor fun. The initiative is organized by the Pro Loco of Porto Sant'Elpidio together with the Municipality of Porto Sant'Elpidio and the agency Mylove Eventi, with free admission.

Porto Sant'Elpidio is a lively seaside resort on the Fermo Riviera, with a long sandy coastline and a tree-lined promenade that becomes the heart of the city's life in summer. The kite festival represents one of the first major events of the warm season and offers an opportunity to discover the Marche coast during a time of particular color and atmosphere.
Aquiloniamo — edition 2026
The second edition of Aquiloniamo was held from May 31 to June 2, 2026, in Porto Sant'Elpidio, coinciding with the June 2nd long weekend.
On Sunday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the central seafront hosted the "Mercatino a Colori" (Colorful Market), featuring creative sewing, costume jewelry, handmade items, and selected products. On Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the beach and sky were filled with giant kites, flown by enthusiasts from various parts of Italy. During these two days, workshops for children dedicated to building small kites were also held, while the food area was set up in Viale della Vittoria.
The event, with free admission, was organized by the Pro Loco of Porto Sant'Elpidio, the Municipality of Porto Sant'Elpidio, and the agency Mylove Eventi.

How to get there
Porto Sant'Elpidio is reachable by train (station on the Adriatic line Ancona-Pescara) and by car via the A14 motorway, Porto Sant'Elpidio exit. The nearest airport is Ancona-Falconara.

Activities are concentrated on the central seafront and the beach of Porto Sant'Elpidio; the food area is set up in Viale della Vittoria.
