Half a century of celebration in the hamlet of Lobia, San Bonifacio
In Lobia, a hamlet of San Bonifacio in the province of Verona, the festival has been a community event for half a century. The Antica Sagra de Lobia, organized by the Comitato Festeggiamenti Lobia (Lobia Celebrations Committee), enlivens Piazza Santa Lucia between late May and the June 2nd holiday, with a program that blends gastronomy, music, and solidarity.
The food stand is the heart of the festival, featuring classic Veronese dishes: polenta e musso (polenta with donkey stew), luganeghe (sausages), risottos, and fish dishes. Evenings kick off with Spritz Island and DJ sets, while a funfair and a rich charity raffle are set up for families.
The evenings are marked by ballroom dancing orchestras that fill the square with waltzes, mazurkas, and polkas. But the Antica Sagra de Lobia is above all a solidarity festival: the proceeds from the event are donated to support the hamlet's nursery school, confirming how these local festivals are engines of social life and commitment for the local community of San Bonifacio.
The Antica Sagra de Lobia celebrates its jubilee with the 50th edition, from May 29 to June 2, 2026, in Piazza Santa Lucia in Lobia, San Bonifacio. It opens on Friday, May 29, with Spritz Island and DJ sets starting at 7:30 PM and the food stand opening at 8:00 PM. Throughout the event: polenta and musso, luganeghe, fish, and risottos, a funfair, and a charity raffle. The ballroom dancing evenings feature orchestras by Graziano Cianni, Renzo Biondi, and Marianna Lanteri. Free admission; proceeds support the hamlet's nursery school.
Every evening: funfair and rich charity raffle. Food stand open every evening.
The evening program may be subject to changes beyond the organizers' control. Full details of the evenings will be released by the Comitato Festeggiamenti Lobia closer to the event.
