Four nights of world-class jazz in front of the Anagni Cathedral, in the heart of Ciociaria
The Anagni Jazz Fest is the annual summer event that transforms the historic center of Anagni, in southern Lazio, into a stage dedicated to great improvised music. The festival takes place in the municipality of Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, and chooses one of the most evocative settings in the Ciociaria region: the space in front of the apses of the famous Cathedral, where the acoustics and the beauty of the Romanesque setting give the concerts a unique atmosphere.
Anagni, known as the City of Popes for being the birthplace of four pontiffs, adds to its historical and artistic heritage a musical event that has grown over the years to become a reference point for jazz enthusiasts in southern Lazio and beyond.
In 2026, the Anagni Jazz Fest reaches the milestone of its tenth edition. The event is organized by the Asso Jazz Music Fest APS association, under the artistic direction of Luca Pierron, with the patronage of the Municipality of Anagni and the Province of Frosinone, and in collaboration with the Licinio Refice Conservatory of Frosinone. The bond with the local musical institution testifies to the festival's focus on quality and the training of young musicians.
The program kicks off with a preview on July 9 and continues with four main evenings, from July 23 to 26, each featuring a double daily appointment: performances generally begin at 9:00 PM and continue with the second part of the evening.
The lineup brings together some of the most authoritative protagonists of the scene. Expected artists include pianist Enrico Pieranunzi, Argentine saxophonist Javier Girotto, trumpeter Flavio Boltro, and saxophonist Maurizio Giammarco, joined by ensembles such as the Tankio Band directed by Riccardo Fassi, the Stefano Lestini Trio, and the Leo Aniceto quintet. There is no shortage of literary moments, with the presentation of a volume on the history of jazz, nor space reserved for vocalists, such as Giulia La Rosa.
Among the festival's distinctive features is the Anagni Jazz Fest Lifetime Achievement Award, a recognition given each year to figures who have left their mark on the history of improvised music. The ceremony, which ideally closes the program, confirms the festival's vocation to combine live performances with the celebration of jazz memory and culture.
The Anagni Jazz Fest is part of the broader Estate Anagnina (Anagni Summer) program, the municipal summer schedule that enlivens squares and monuments with concerts, shows, and cultural events. For those visiting Lazio during the warmer months, the festival is the ideal opportunity to combine high-quality music with the discovery of one of the most fascinating medieval towns in the region.
The 2026 edition, the tenth, of the Anagni Jazz Fest spans five appointments: the preview on July 9 and the four main evenings from July 23 to 26, set in front of the Anagni Cathedral. Each evening of the core program includes a double appointment, with concerts generally starting at 9:00 PM. The festival is organized by Asso Jazz Music Fest APS under the artistic direction of Luca Pierron.
Anagni is located in southern Lazio, in the province of Frosinone. By car, it is accessible from the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, taking the Anagni-Fiuggi exit, just a few kilometers from the historic center. By train, the Anagni-Fiuggi station is served by the Rome-Cassino line, with bus connections to the town center.
The concerts take place in the historic center, in front of the apses of the Anagni Cathedral. It is recommended to arrive early to find a seat and enjoy the monumental setting.
