The major concert season in Monopoli, featuring classical, jazz, and singer-songwriter music
For over forty years, the Amici della Musica Concert Season has been the beating heart of the musical life in Monopoli, a city in the Province of Bari overlooking the Adriatic in Puglia. Organized by the association of the same name, the festival accompanies the public from October to April with a program that spans diverse genres and styles: from classical music to jazz, operetta to early music, and singer-songwriter hits to grand tributes to the icons of Italian and international pop music.
Concerts are held in two of the city's iconic venues: the Teatro Radar, which hosts the most spectacular performances and special Event evenings, and the intimate Teatro Mariella (on Via Cardinale Marzati), the ideal setting for chamber music and evenings dedicated to young performers. The programming categorizes concerts into different tiers—standard evenings, Event concerts, and prestigious Gold concerts—offering a wide range of options for every type of listener.
Over the years, the Amici della Musica stage has hosted leading names from the Italian and international scenes, with evenings that combine interpretive excellence with the ability to share music with a broad audience. A special chapter is reserved for the Young Concert Performers Festival, organized in collaboration with the Nino Rota Conservatory of Music in Monopoli: two evenings each spring that highlight the best students and emerging young soloists in the region.
The festival represents a cultural landmark for the entire south-east area of the Bari metropolitan city and confirms Monopoli's vocation as a small musical capital of the Apulian Adriatic coast. Under the artistic direction of the maestro and violinist Francesco D'Orazio, the season continues its path of quality, combining refined repertoires, grand spectacle, and a focus on cultivating new audiences.
The 2025/2026 season marked the debut of the new artistic director, violinist Francesco D'Orazio, who succeeded maestro Giovanni Antonioni after 45 years. Sixteen events—two Gold and six Event—traversed jazz, classical, operetta, early music, and singer-songwriter styles between the Teatro Radar and Teatro Mariella in Monopoli, in the Province of Bari.
Featured artists included Tullio De Piscopo, Rita Marcotulli, the Enrico Rava Quintet, the Washington Gospel Singers, and Radiodervish, alongside grand tributes to Lucio Battisti, Milva, Domenico Modugno, and Queen. The season concluded in April with the 18th Young Concert Performers Festival, in collaboration with the Nino Rota Conservatory.
Concerts take place at the Teatro Radar and Teatro Mariella (Via Cardinale Marzati 2/1) in Monopoli, in the Province of Bari.
