The carnival of the Cansiglio plateau
The Altopiano Carnival is the carnival celebration of Tambre, a municipality in the province of Belluno located on the Cansiglio plateau, in the Belluno Dolomites. It is a joint event involving the communities of Tambre, Spert, and Cansiglio, united in one big village festival.
Masks and mountain tradition
The carnival day brings masks, colors, and joy to the square, with the participation of adults and children. It is the plateau version of the carnival celebration, experienced with the convivial spirit typical of the mountain communities of Cansiglio, where opportunities for gathering mark the life of the village.
A Pro Loco festival
Organized by Pro Loco Tambre, active in serving the village and its guests since 1950, the Altopiano Carnival is a long-standing tradition: in 2026 it celebrated its 30th edition, a sign of an event now rooted in the identity of Tambre and the plateau's hamlets. A moment of celebration that unites the Cansiglio communities in anticipation of the warmer season.
Altopiano Carnival — edition 2026
The Altopiano Carnival 2026, in its 30th edition, was held on Sunday, February 15. The festival brought together, as tradition dictates, the communities of Tambre, Spert, and Cansiglio on the Cansiglio plateau.
Masks, colors, and joy enlivened the carnival day, organized by Pro Loco Tambre. A special edition, the thirtieth anniversary, which confirmed the strong bond between the festival and the identity of the mountain communities of the plateau.

Tambre is located on the Cansiglio plateau, in the province of Belluno. By car from the Cansiglio road (Alpago area). Nearest train station: Ponte nelle Alpi / Belluno.
